Quick Takes – Transing Toddlers: Illinois Toddlers; California Sex Ed Gidelines; NEA President Pitching to Kindergartners

Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

The focus this time: “Your child belongs to us already”

     First, a little mood music:

     Carrying on…

Children will be made woke, at the earliest possible time, before parents have a chance to really teach their children the whys and wherefors.

“To get a sense of what all Illinois public schools must begin teaching children starting next year, one can look at curriculum developed this summer in Illinois’s Evanston/Skokie School District 65, as well as Advanced Placement history classes. Scholars noted AP products were given a decidedly leftist, identity politics slant in recent revisions. These classes educate the nation’s top third of students and for many are the last history classes they ever take. Especially well-educated and high-income parents trust them as a way to get their kids a leg up on college and thus life.

“Yet they are rapidly being corrupted by leftist ideology. Schock noted that she was teaching LGBT-themed materials before the Illinois law passed because the College Board integrated it into AP history classes in recent revisions. “Schock teaches about the 1969 Stonewall riots for LGBTQ rights in New York City, feminism, and Latino and American Indian rights movements as part of the description of social movements of the 1960s and 1970s. She spends a class period on each topic,” reported the Daily Herald.

“This means that even in states that have not mandated LGBT curriculum, bright students are likely to be exposed to it through AP classes, which also influence non-AP curriculum. The Stonewall Riots are also taught to elementary school students as part of LGBTQ+ Equity Week curriculum being taught this week in District 65, a north Chicago suburb.”

Death of Europe

Nowhere is the suicide of Western Civilization as advanced in its euthanistic orgy than in Europe. From guilt and hatred of borders to social justice, identity politics, and intersectionality, Europe is moribund. If any of Western Civilization is to be saved, the autopsy must begin while the patient is still alive. Just such an examination is undertaken by Douglas Murray, in this Uncommon Knowledge interview by Peter Robinson.

Punishing Thoughtcrime

Do you believe that men are biological males, women are biological females, and one can not change that? If so, congratulations with being legally “incompatible with human dignity”, you doubleplusungood thoughtcriminal.

“Dr. David Mackereth worked as a disability assessor for the UK’s Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Last year, the department fired him after being questioned by an employment agency official about how he would handle clients who asked to be referred to as members of the opposite sex.

“Belief in Genesis 1:27, lack of belief in transgenderism and conscientious objection to transgenderism in our judgment are incompatible with human dignity and conflict with the fundamental rights of others, specifically here, transgender individuals,’ the ruling declared.

“‘Without intellectual and moral integrity, medicine cannot function and my 30 years as a doctor are now considered irrelevant compared to the risk that someone else might be offended,’ Mackereth said in response to the ruling.

“‘This is an astonishing judgment and one that if upheld will have seismic consequences not just for the NHS and for Christians but anyone in the workplace who is prepared to believe and say that we are created male and female,’ CLC chief executive Andrea Williams responded in a press release. ‘It is deeply disturbing that this is the first time in the history of English law that a judge has ruled that free citizens must engage in compelled speech. Here Judge Perry has ruled that Christianity is not protected by the Equality Act or the ECHR, unless it is a version of Christianity which recognises transgenderism and rejects a belief in Genesis 1:27.’”

Not only is this a case of compelled speech that violates one’s conscience, and a compulsion that requires one to lie (or at least a Hobson’s choice), but it is a condemnation of the belief itself. In other words, the doctor who was fired was guilty of thoughtcrime.

Firing Line Friday: What’s Ahead for the Democrats? Part I

In the hopes of encouraging a more civil, and illuminating, discourse, here is another episode of William F. Buckley, Jr.’s “Firing Line”.

In 1984, President Reagan won every state except Minnesota (and the District of Columbia), though the Democratic Party was still dominant in the House of Representatives and on the state level. In this two-part episode, Buckley, along with guests Mark J. Green, Murray Kempton, and Richard Brookhiser examine the prospects of the Democrats in June of 1984.

     Here is Part I:

Quick Takes – Unwelcome in College: Affirmative Action Bake Sales; Teaching Conservative Political Thought; Male Authors

Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

The focus this time: Drive out the unbelievers of wokeness!!1!

     First, a little mood music:

     Carrying on…

An old but still relevant protest against racial discrimination under appellation of “affirmative action

“College Republicans at the University of Washington held an ‘affirmative action bake sale’ last week, voicing their opposition to a new law that allows affirmative action policies at public universities in the state. The bake sale generated controversy and even a rebuke from the school’s president.

“The Washington state legislature last week reversed a decades-old anti-discrimination law, revoking a ban on affirmative action and once more permitting schools to factor race and sex into their admission policies.

“Initiative 1000 overturns a 1998 law, Initiative 200, which prohibited ‘government entities from discriminating or granting preferential treatment based on race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin.’ The text of the now defunct I-200 legislation clarifies that public universities and colleges were included under these regulations.

“Affirmative action is the process by which officials consider factors like skin color and sex when making admission and hiring decisions. Initiative 200 insisted on blind admissions policies for public entities; now, under the new rule, schools may admit individual students in part because of the color of their skin.”

Level 20 Sensitivity Editor Casts Wokeness on D&D

To those with grievance studies degrees or fancy themselves as “professional privilege heckers” or “racial justice consultants”, we can now add “Sensitivity Editor” for … Dungeons & Dragons!

If I’m going to spend money on a D&D (or other such game), I’ll spend it on (yet more) polyhedral dice rather than pay a “sensitivity editor”.

Poe’s Law: Swedish Anti-Christ Edition

Poe’s Law is invoked when it is impossible, absent other evidence, whether something is a parody or a sincere expression. Considering the paganization of many Christian churches, the Swedish church diocese declaring deranged eco-moppet Great Thunberg a successor to Jesus Christ falls squarely into the purview of this law.

     Translated from Swedish to English:

🔔 Door 1 ❄️

Proclamation! Jesus of Nazareth has now appointed one of his successors, Greta Thunberg.

🌟

Hmmm, someone comes along and says we must follow them if they want to be saved… or else. Kinda sounds like the Anti-Christ from the Book of Revelations. Well, the “Seventh Seal” was Swedish, after all.

However, this seems to be from a legitimate twitter account that links to a legitimate looking diocese, and was covered by The Daily Wire.

The Church of Sweden Malmö announced that they would ring their church bells in conjugation with the Global Climate Strike, of which Thunberg is the face.

In conjunction with the Global Climate Strike, church bells ring and we gather for prayer for the future of the earth,” the church announced. ‘We pray that we believe that man is responsible for nurturing and managing Creation so that children are given the opportunity for a future. We pray that we know that climate change affects the most vulnerable — poor, children and women. We pray that we believe in man’s ability to change and change.’

“’When the Amazon burns, we gather to fight for Mother Earth together,’ the site reads, adding, ‘WELCOME’”.

Mother Earth? This isn’t about Thunberg being a successor to Jesus, but about her becoming next chief Druid of the Gaia cult.

Firing Line Friday: Resolved: That the Women’s Movement Has Been Disastrous

In the hopes of encouraging a more civil, and illuminating, discourse, here is another episode of William F. Buckley, Jr.’s “Firing Line”.

Feminism has changed over the better part of a century over which it has evolved from “first wave” to “intersectional”. An all female array of guests (Elizabeth Fox-Genovese, Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, Helen Alvare, Betty Friedan, Karen S. Burstein, Camille Paglia, Kathryn Kolbert), coving both sides of the question of if the women’s movement being disastrous, from 1994 shows not only how it changed from its nascent beginnings to that point, and highlights just how much has changed since 1994—for example Ariana Huffington was on the “anti-feminism” side while Germaine Greer (who is condemned as transphobic today), was on the “pro-feminism” side.
