In the hopes of encouraging a more civil, and illuminating, discourse, here is another episode of William F. Buckley, Jr.’s “Firing Line”.
Though not strictly “Firing Line”, this little exchange between William F. Buckley, Jr. and Gore Vidal shows how to responds to apologists for riots who casually call people Nazis.

Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.
The focus this time: Shut up, Unamerican Americans explained.
First, a little mood music:

Once upon a time the term “Banned in Boston” was a call by the Left against socially conservative censorship, is now used by the Left as a badge of Social Justice, with the push to fine people for doubleplusungood speech.
“A bill to criminalize the B-word — the term for a female dog that is commonly used to slander women — is up for a hearing Tuesday on Beacon Hill in what one critic calls ‘patently unconstitutional’ and the latest political correctness push from the ‘word police.’
“The legislation submitted by state Rep. Daniel Hunt, titled ‘An Act regarding the use of offensive words,’ states: ‘A person who uses the word “bitch” directed at another person to accost, annoy, degrade or demean the other person shall be considered to be a disorderly person.’ Penalties for a disorderly conduct conviction include a $150 fine for a first offense and $200 or 6 months in prison for subsequent offenses.”

The death of George Floyd quite initially resulted in many on the Right condemning the actions of the police officer considered responsible for Floyd’s death, be that responsibility direct or indirect. Said officer has been arrested and is facing serious charges. To a sane individual, this is an indication that, so far, proper justice is taking its proper course.
However, a plethora of “peaceful protests” have invariably degenerated into looting, arson, and homicides of their own.
All this, for the loud few on social media, is about “fighting fascism” based on the logical idiocy (I won’t even deem it with the concept of a “fallacy”), that their designated enemies are “fascists” and thus they are pure and innocent as the newly driven snow since the designated enemies are “fascist” and thus understood in modern parlance to be pure evil.
Guess who else was “anti-fascist”?
Stalin.
Irregardless of the fact that Stalin killed more people than Hitler, he isn’t as demonized as his once ally Hitler. For far too many, being against fascism was interchangable with being a far Left lunatic who couldn’t explain what Fascism was beyond some anti-Troskyite propaganda.
It is beyond ironic that a memorial to truly Patriotic Americans such as Eisenhower and countless heroes who literally fought against liliteral fascists is attacked by “Anti-Fascists” who believe that there is no greater fascist symbol than than a memorial to those who literally fought against liliteral fascists.
"Fighting fascism" by desecrating a memorial to those who sacrificed their lives to *literally* fight *literal* fascists… https://t.co/8adUYGDPFE

In the hopes of encouraging a more civil, and illuminating, discourse, here is another episode of William F. Buckley, Jr.’s “Firing Line”.
From Bernie Sanders’ “Medicare for All” proposal to calls to repeal not just Obamacare, but many other Federal regulations, the question of healthcare and government policy is not a new one, as Mr. Buckley and guests at a healthcare mini-debate can show. Here is Part IV.

Some products such as “sanitary pads” and such that deal with the period of menses are, and have always been, noted as being feminine since they deal with a situation that only biological females, during their natural and normal development, deal with. Obviously dudes who think they are chicks find this problematic and have harassed companies that sell such products to bend the proverbial knee.
“The maker of Always sanitary pads has given in to claims of discrimination by transgender men and removed the ‘Venus’ symbol of the female sex from the wrapping.
“Outraged women are now boycotting the leading brand after the decision by makers Procter & Gamble (P&G) to kowtow to trans activists who were born female and still use sanitary products.
“Last night, feminists warned that the concession is a chilling move towards the ‘elimination of women’s biology’.
“Ben Saunders – named young campaigner of the year by LGBT charity Stonewall in May after making a documentary about being transgender – contacted the sanitary pad makers in June with a similar complaint
“The cave-in by P&G comes after Flora margarine stopped advertising on Mumsnet following accusations that the parenting website is transphobic, which also sparked a boycott as reported by The Mail on Sunday last week.”

The scientific quest to genetically engineer catgirls for domestic ownership is an ongoing one, give or take an Elon Musk tweet or two. One of the most promising avenues for investigation is the combination, on the genetic level, of human and non-human genes to create chimeras. Now, such a chimera has created with a mouse containing up to 4% human DNA.
“Scientists have created a mouse embryo that’s part human — 4% to be exact.
“The hybrid is what scientists call a human-animal chimera, a single organism that’s made up of two different sets of cells — in this case, a mouse embryo that has both mouse cells and human cells.
“This human-mouse chimera has by far the highest number of human cells ever recorded in an animal, according to researchers. Their experiment suggests that many types of human cells can be generated in mouse embryos, and at a much faster rate than in human embryos.
“And that, the scientists say, carries enormous potential for the treatment of human diseases, possibly even Covid-19.”
