Segregation As Social Justice in Florida

A “school of the arts” in Jacksonville, Florida, apologized for a planned “cultural issues” discussion that was going to be segregated by race—oh, they didn’t apologize for planning to hold it… only for letting parents, who ended up complaining, know about it beforehand.

“Douglas Anderson School of the Arts were planning on holding a cultural discussion with its students on Thursday. The meeting would feature Dr. Tammy Hodo, a local TEDx speaker and lead consultant at All Things Diverse, and Grammy winner/DA Alum Ulysses Owens. Parents received an email Tuesday night informing them of the meeting.

“What parents were not expecting were the students being separated and attending two separate meetings, based on the students race.

“‘Good Afternoon DA Families:

“‘Dr. Hodo, President of All Things Diverse, LLC, and Ulysses Owens, DA Artist in Residence and DA Alum, will be hosting two student meetings on Thursday morning, March 4. These meetings are to discuss cultural issues that have arisen at DA and to ensure that DA truly is a place for all.

“‘The two meetings are scheduled as follows:

“‘9 am will be for all 11th and 12th-grade students of color, and 10:30 am will be for all 11th and 12th-grade white students. There will be an announcement made before each meeting to dismiss students to the cafeteria.”

At first the school tried to justify it.

“‘Our diversity consultant is hosting two meetings in hopes of creating a safe space to allow students to be transparent about their experiences at DA. We realize that we can’t control what happens outside of school but it does impact the lives of students and they bring that with them to school. We are not immune to what happens in the world around us and are attempting to be proactive in our methods. If last year taught us anything it is that we still have a lot of work to do regarding race relations as a nation and a school.’”

They canceled the even for now and offered a non-apology apology:

“‘Working with consultants in the area of diversity, an event scheduled for Thursday was communicated in such a way as to have the appearance of dividing, not uniting, our student body.

“‘One of our core values as a school is a belief that the arts is a powerful way to bridge differences among people. We now realize that the communication around the event and the manner in which the event itself was organized are contrary to our values and to the goals we have for improving our culture. Therefore, we are revisiting our approach with our consultants and will develop a new strategy for leading our students through these sensitive topics and conversations. The events scheduled for Thursday are being canceled while we reconsider our approach.’”

They didn’t apologize for implementing segregation, but for not being able to get away with it. The segregation wasn’t contrary to their values, only the way they communicated their intent!

Making Babies Check Their White Privilege

Not even pushing Critical Race Theory in K—12 education is enough. Now, White babies must be purged of their Whiteness from birth and constantly reminded that even as a helpless infant, they are evil oppressors who should fight against things associated with their race, which is necessarily evil.

The veritable Christopher Rufo yet again obtained source documents from an “‘equity’ toolkit” from the Arizona Department of Education.

Notice how they claim that racism is caused by “letting children draw their own conclusion based on what they see”.

Ya know, if you have to have a monopoly on what people think, then maybe, juuust maybe, it is you who are imposing a system of oppression.

I Learned It From You Leviathan!

One of the most distinct effects of any totalitarian system is the primacy of childcare and dependency being the honor and duty of a child’s parents, but rather the purview of the state. Even today, those on the Left who openly admit to their totalizing ideology that while parents may have custody of a child and be the ones who have to shell out their time and money, said child is still Leviathan’s child in reality.

Remember how it was the parents job and responsibility to teach their children and be expected to be the first to intervene to keep issues, such as drug use, even if the parents themselves are imperfect, such as with the (in)famous “I learned it from you Dad” anti-drug PSA:

Indeed, in many states abortion, contraceptives, and even gender “transitioning” are things that a parent has no say over, assuming that the state even lets the parent know about it to begin with, and now New Jersey is adding drug abuse and addiction to what parents aren’t allowed to know about their own children.

“A new law in New Jersey is sparking criticism from parents and police officers throughout the state, as the bill restricts law enforcement from notifying the parents of minors who are caught with possession of marijuana or alcohol.

“The law, signed in February by Democrat Gov. Phil Murphy, allows people to carry up to 6 ounces of marijuana. It also prohibits police officers from notifying parents when their child is caught by law enforcement with marijuana or alcohol for the child’s first incident. After the first reported incident, officers can relay the information back to parents.

“However, police note that there is not a way to confirm if a minor has any prior incidents reported.”

‘Twould seem that parents no longer are responsible, even if a child suffers in the long term.

Children no longer learn their behavior from their parents who can raise them and correct them when they tread down a dangerous path. They’ll learn if from you, Leviathan, they’ll learn it from you.

Racial Struggle Sessions In Nevada Schools

A “White-presenting” student, and not even a student who unequivocally White, was humiliated and denigrated for his “Whiteness” amongst a Nevada class of otherwise non-White students, including requirements that he admit his “privilege” and how he, and he alone in the class, benefits from oppression.   Thankfully, good people are standing up against this, and have filed a lawsuit, with a request for an emergency motion for preliminary injunction.

The school authorities, and those behind this, gave a rather pathetic response. The lawyers for the victim of the schools racial animus “destroyed”, as the kids now-a-days say, the school’s arguments in a reply.

It beatdown just gets worse from here.

The Ides of March

I hear a tongue shriller than all the music
Cry “Caesar!” Speak, Caesar is turn’d to hear.

Soothsayer:
Beware the ides of March.

Caesar:
What man is that?

Brutus:
A soothsayer bids you beware the ides of March.

     A little mood music:

None More Woke Than Nazis?

What was once considered an evil to be stopped by the Civil Rights movement has become paragons of wokeness: Segregation and miscegenation. Case in point:

Now where have we seen that type of race concious relationship chart before…

Oh!

Before you know it, well start seeing calls for a Woke Nuremberg law, which begs the question: Just who are the real Neo-Nazis in this country?

Quick Takes – The Academic Purging Of Whites: Purging Racist Colonials With Non-Racist Whales; Racist Emancipators of Slave; Racist Conquerors Of Germans

Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

     The focus this time: Leukophobia!

     First, a little mood music:

     Carrying on…

Colonials are considered evil White oppressors, while whales are known for being hippies of the sea or something…

“Western Connecticut State University is considering changing its ‘Colonials’ mascot to a new moniker that ‘better reflects WCSU.’

“A petition has accumulated more than 300 signatures advocating for the removal of the current mascot and replacing it with a new one. According to the petition, the signatories ‘want to leave the outdated term, Colonials, behind as it is representative of ethnic violence, genocide, racism, and white male privilege.’

“Instead of being the Colonials, the petition asks that the university switch its name to the ‘Whales.’

“‘Whales are associated with compassion and solitude, and knowledge of both life and death,’ reasons the petition. ‘They are also associated with unbridled creativity. The exhalation through the blowhole symbolizes the freeing of one’s own creative energies. Sound is also a creative force of life.’”

Captain Ahab hardest hit…

Nothing says “oppression” more than leading a war against slave owners and liberating from the shackles of slavery millions of people.

“It sounds trite to say that some news item sounds like it came from a satirical publication, but how else does one explain jettisoning Abraham Lincoln for lack of wokeness? Two words: ‘San Francisco.’ The city’s school board ordered the removal of names from schools that honored historical figures with ‘offensive histories,’ which includes the Great Emancipator who ended slavery in the US.

“No, really”

Apparently the racism of “Whiteness” is best destroyed by pulling down statues of people who… fought, conquered, and “privilege checked” the whitest of Whites: Celtic and Germanic tribes.

“Caesar Augustus represents ‘icon of colonial and imperial domination’

“A Brown University student group, Decolonization at Brown, wants the school to remove two Roman statues displayed on campus, claiming the statues represent white supremacy and colonialism.

“The student group at the Ivy League university in Rhode Island has lobbied the school’s Undergraduate Council of Students to support its initiative to remove of statues of Roman Emperors Caesar Augustus and Marcus Aurelius.

“Removing the statues ‘is one step in a broader project of decolonization by confronting Brown’s institutional and ideological legacies of colonialism and white supremacy,’ members of the group wrote in The Blognonian, a student publication at the university.”

Math Equity

Because balanced equations are racist or something?

An explicitly not-named group backed by various public school boards, universities, private organizations and funded in large part by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have released “A Pathway to Equitable Math Instruction”, which is a resource and guidance to “support Black, LatinX, and Multilingual students to thrive in grades 6-8.

“A Pathway to Equitable Math Instruction is an integrated approach to mathematics that centers Black, Latinx, and Multilingual students in grades 6-8, addresses barriers to math equity, and aligns instruction to grade-level priority standards. The Pathway offers guidance and resources for educators to use now as they plan their curriculum, while also offering opportunities for ongoing self-reflection as they seek to develop an anti-racist math practice. The toolkit “strides” serve as multiple on-ramps for educators as they navigate the individual and collective journey from equity to anti-racism.”

Of note, many of these “strides” are bland and academic sounding, which to many parents and others seems “professional” and due thereto the wokeness sprinkled throughout is accepted because it is written by “the experts”.

The “About” page describes itself thusly:

“This toolkit was developed by a team of teachers, instructional coaches, researchers, professional development providers, and curriculum writers with expertise in mathematics education, English language development, and culturally responsive pedagogy. (See collaborator bios).

“Recognizing the importance of helping educators to identify essential content for the 2020-21 school year, our team used Student Achievement Partners’ Instructional Priority Content in Mathematics as a foundational guide for sharpening our content focus for this toolkit. We also recognized that educators need support in shifting their instructional practices to provide meaningful access to priority content while ensuring that those practices are research- and assets-based, and culturally responsive. We drew upon the principles of the California English Learner Roadmap and the Position Statement of TODOS: Mathematics for All as key resources for the development of the tools.

“We also realize that the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on communities of color has exacerbated the historic and systemic inequities experienced by Black, Latinx, and Multilingual students. We therefore embraced the responsibility to simultaneously create equitable access to quality math instruction for 6th-8th graders in the 2020-2021 school year, while continuing to confront systemic racism and individual beliefs rooted in racism.”

They offer PDFs of their “strides” which can be downloaded (for now) here, or read below.
