School Transparency In Oregon?

Oregon is not known for standing up for parents against its own educational Leviathan, either now or in the past. Some Oregonians in the past stood up against the state taking away their parental rights when it came to education of their children, and some Oregonians today are trying to do the same by introducing a measure in the legislature to mandate transparency in public schools’ curriculum. Senate Bill 1575 reads, in part:

(c)(A) For each course of study offered by a school district, the district school board shall ensure that the following information is made available to the public on the school district’s website:

(i) The title of, or other descriptive information for, any textbooks and instructional materials used for the course and, when available, a link for the textbook or instructional materials;

(ii) A syllabus for, or written summary of, the course; and (iii) When applicable, identification of the state academic content   standards that are be-ing satisfied by the course.

(B) The district school board shall ensure that any changes to the information described in subparagraph (A) of this paragraph are reflected on the school district’s website within 30 days of the change.

The Oregon legislature is dominated by Democrats, so the chance this passes is slim to none, but it is an important first step in fighting back against Leviathan.

When Racial Segregation In Schools Becomes Woke

Racial segregation in schools was, in the 20th Century, a societal cancer of both racism and racial inequality under the law that White Supremacists fought for, that was ended by the banner victory of Brown v. Board of Education.

Racial segregation in schools is, in the 21st Century, a paragon of “Racial Justice” that only a White Supremacist fight against, at least according to supporters of this public school created specifically for “BIPOC” (i.e. “Black, indigenous, persons of color”) students.

“Portland has been labeled the ‘whitest big city’ in America. That can make it difficult for some BIPOC (Black, indigenous, people of color) kids to see themselves reflected in their communities and schools.

“That’s why there’s an effort to make a space specifically for BIPOC students where they feel seen, heard and their experiences are reflected in curriculum.

“‘It’s very hard to learn when you don’t see yourself in the curriculum. You don’t see yourself in educational model,” said Eric Knox, executive director and founder of HOLLA, a nonprofit in Portland that pairs youth of color with mentors of color.

“‘Every spring we match our kids or mentees with mentors […] and we have more kids wanting to get mentorship than we have mentors,’ Knox said.

“From the beginning, in 2013, Knox said his intention was to open a school for BIPOC students.”

Note how this us justified by essentially saying that “Black, indigenous, people of color” have different ways of knowing that that they are incapable of understanding, at least without greatly “colonizing their minds”, what White (and apparently also “White-adjacent” races/ethnicities). Saying that used to be considered racist and offered as proof by White Supremacists; saying that now makes you a woke racial justice warrior.

Fish-Eating Vegan Mayor Warns Of The Scourge Of Cheese

For New York Mayor Eric Adams, the scourge of heroin has met its equal in evil in the form of… cheese.

“Adams, a self-proclaimed vegan who claims to have cured his own diabetes and even reversed blindness he was experiencing in one eye by switching to a plant-based diet, was rolling out new initiatives to encourage New Yorkers ‘to have as many plant-based meals as possible.’

“While preparing a bowl of vegan chili in front of City Hall’s press corps, Adams veered into a tangent about the addictiveness of certain foods, particularly cheese.

“‘Food is like a drug,’ Adams said. ‘And in fact, the studies show the same level of brain that encourages you to use drugs also addicts you to food.’”

Does the Mayor think that cheese is the new crack epidemic? Will police be ordered to ignore the sale of rocks of crack and focus on evil peddlers of cheese cubes?

At least he’s taking some crime seriously, and will have New Yorkers from the greatest threat of all: Cheese. Heck, some New Yorkers will even eat pizza off the floor of a subway station to get their fix!

Public Education: Another Day, Another Assault

Some argue that not letting students attend school in private is psychological child abuse. But sometimes, making a child go to a public school results in literal physical child abuse… as Network in Vegas has uncovered.

But the existence of such videos just means that the public and the public schools can work together to fight bullying, right?

Funny how a public school wants to keep the hell within their not-so-hallowed halls so very private and away from the eyes of parents… and of voters.

Flannel Is Now Racist

When asked what “equity” is or what “understand[ing] our system with an equity lens”, most school districts will be less than honest. When asked what isn’t “equity” you’ll hear the resounding cry of FLANNEL!!1!

     Why?

Because some residents at a public forum who criticized Critical Race Theory wore flannel.   Not most of the people at the public forum, just some of the people. This isn’t some “White Supremacist” symbol. It’s just people in the northern parts of the United States wearing… flannel.

This is what “White Supremacy” looks like.

Firing Line Friday: Is New York City Out from Under?

In the hopes of encouraging a more civil, and illuminating, discourse, here is another episode of William F. Buckley, Jr.’s “Firing Line”.

The City of New York began rapidly sliding back into the hellhole it was in the 1970s and 1980s under the previous Mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio, and despite a new Mayor, some question if this slide can be stopped. Let us look back upon the late 1990s when New York’s previous decline was stopped and even to a degree reversed, with William F. Buckley, Jr. and then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Quick Takes – Diagnosis Woke: American Medical Association Embraces “Equity”; Anti-racism Mandate For Pharmacists; Medical Meritocracy Ban

Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

Take two privilege checks and text me in the morning.

     First, a little mood music:

     Carrying on…

Death, Rx

The American Medical Association and the Association of American Medical Colleges have decided that medicine is less important than woke narratives and “equity”.

Rhode Island To Children: Orgasms Are Awesome!

Why waste time failing to teach children how to read, write, or do arithmetic, when you can spend the time waxing poetic about how awesome sex feels, like Rhode Island is considering doing in House bill H 7166 (bold text added):

“Provided further, courses in family life or sex education shall be appropriate for students of all races, genders, sexual orientations, ethnic and cultural backgrounds; affirmatively recognize pleasure based sexual relations, different sexual orientations and be inclusive of same-sex relationships in discussions and examples. In addition, comprehensive course instruction shall include gender, gender expression, gender identity, and the harm of negative gender stereotypes.”

I certainly hope there won’t involve group projects or classroom demonstrations…

Coming soon to a Rhode Island school?

Perhaps what is frightening is just how vague this is. Rather than take any time to outline exactly what this means, this bill acts as an enabling act that leaves that to bureaucrats and pedagogical “experts”.   So, to beg the question: What are they hiding from parents and the public at large?
