Quick Takes – Race In Academia: Mandatory Course On Anti-Black Racism; Segregated Medical School; BIPOC Bonus

     Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.

     The focus this time: Indoctrinate and then indoctrinate some more.

     You will be forced to regurgitate wokeness at the University of Connecticut, especially after being indoctrination over “Anti-Black Racism”.

“The University of Connecticut (UConn) will officially make its ‘Anti-Black Racism’ (ABR) course mandatory for all undergraduate students as part of the core curriculum’s new social justice requirement.

“Provost Anne D’Alleva announced on May 17 that the requirement will go into effect during the 2024-2025 academic year with a course that will be similar to the one-credit ABR elective that has been offered since 2021.

“‘An education at our university must provide many opportunities to confront the history and current reality of injustice and human rights abuses, and we expect our students to be leaders in creating a more just and equitable world. ABR and the curricular changes that are in development are a powerful point of departure from the status quo,’ D’Alleva stated.

“University Spokesperson Stephanie Reitz told Campus Reform that the course requirement was created by the University Senate, which approved the motion 36-25. ‘The Senate’s discussion includes different perspectives voiced by various members of that body, including faculty and students, so we would refer you to that discussion,’ Reitz stated.

“According to UConn’s website, the fall 2022 version of the course was designed to instruct students about ‘foundational concepts related to Black consciousness, Black resistance, Black resilience, and intersectional solidarity.’”

Trans-Species Ideology In The Classroom

     Previously, your humble author invoked Poe’s Law over claims of schoolkids identifying as cats, and that identity being validated. It turns out that reality doesn’t have anything to do with it.

“A Church of England school teacher told a pupil she was ‘despicable’ after she refused to accept that her classmate identifies as a cat.

“The 13-year-old girl and her friend were reprimanded by their teacher at Rye College, in East Sussex, on Friday at the end of a Year 8 class on ‘life education’ in which they were told they can ‘be who you want to be and how you identify is up to you’.

“The row, which has infuriated parents, was allegedly sparked by one of them asking a fellow pupil: ‘How can you identify as a cat when you’re a girl?’

“…

“[T]he heated exchange taken by one of the pupils, in which the teacher starts by saying ‘how dare you – you’ve just really upset someone’ by ‘questioning their identity’.

The pupil responded: ‘If they want to identify as a cat or something then they are genuinely unwell – crazy.’”

North Dakota vs. Diversity Training

     Increasingly, many states are standing up against wokeness; North Dakota is joining them.   SB 2247 protects students and employees from being “[p]enalized, discriminated against, or receive adverse treatment due to the individual’s refusal to support, believe, endorse, embrace, confess, act upon, or otherwise assent to or oppose a specified concept” or otherwise be “[r]equired to endorse or oppose a specific ideology or political viewpoint to be eligible for hiring, tenure, promotion, or graduation.” The bill also prohibits mandatory training sessions in wokeness, with the state declining to endorse the following “specified concepts”:

3.”Specified concept” means a concept that:
a. One race or sex is inherently superior or inferior to another race or sex ;
b. An individual, by virtue of the individual’s race or sex, is inherently privileged, racist,
sexist, or oppressive, whether consciously or subconsciously;
c. An individual should be discriminated against or receive adverse treatment because of
the individual’s race or sex;
d. An individual’s moral character is determined by the individual’s race or sex;
e. An individual, by virtue of the individual’s race or sex, bears responsibility for an action
committed in the past by other members of the same race or sex;
f. An individual should feel discomfort, guilt, anguish, or another form of psychological
distress solely because of the individual’s race or sex;
g. A meritocracy is inherently racist or sexist, or designed by a particular race or sex to
oppress another race or sex;
h. This state or the United States is fundamentally or irredeemably racist or sexist;
i. Promotes or advocates the violent overthrow of the United States government ;
j. Promotes division between, or resentment of, a race, sex, religion, creed, nonviolent
political affiliation, social class, or class of people;
k. Ascribes a character trait, value, moral or ethical code, privilege, or belief to a race or
sex, or to an individual because of the individual’s race or sex;

l. The rule of law does not exist, but instead is a series of power relationships and
struggles among racial or other groups;
m. All Americans are not created equal and are not endowed by their creator with certain
unalienable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness;
n. Governments should deny to any person within the government’s jurisdiction the equal
protection of the law;
o. Includes race or sex stereotyping; or
p. Includes race or sex scapegoating.

     A good start, now it’ll just have to be enforced.

Restricting Freedom For The Common Good

     Ireland is considering a law that would jail people for expressing “hate speech”.

“Irish citizens who campaign against transgender women being able to use female changing rooms or crisis centres risk jail under an “Orwellian” hate-speech law, critics have claimed.

“The Irish senate last week debated the controversial Criminal Justice (Incitement to Violence or Hatred and Hate Offences) Bill 2022.

“The bill seeks to expand the range of people protected from hate speech to include those with ‘gender identities’, including transgender or ‘gender other than those of male or female’.

“Supporters of the bill argue that Ireland needs to update its hate-speech protections to match the evolution of society and social media.”

     And yes, restricting freedom for what the state of Ireland considers “the common good” is exactly what they are openly saying they are doing.

     No, restricting inalienable human rights does not serve “the common good”.

Federal Judge: Actually There IS A Hate Speech Exception To The 1st Amendment

     Expressing wrongthink is now a clear and present danger: A court has cleared a school to censor a student who wore a t-shirt that said “THERE ARE ONLY TWO GENDERS” because expressing something that others don’t agree with violates the later groups right “to be secure and let alone”.

“Plaintiff … is unable to counter Defendants’ showing that enforcement of the Dress Code was undertaken to protect the invasion of the rights of other students to a safe and secure educational environment. School administrators were well within their discretion to conclude that the statement ‘THERE ARE ONLY TWO GENDERS” may communicate that only two gender identities—male and female—are valid, and any others are invalid or nonexistent, and to conclude that students who identify differently, whether they do so openly or not, have a right to attend school without being confronted by messages attacking their identities. As Tinker explained, schools can prohibit speech that is in “collision with the rights of others to be secure and be let alone.’”

     This is basically the “stochastic terrorism” argument of harm. That someone who identifies as some made up gender might feel bullied because not every student is at least passively validating their delusions.   Of course, if a student wore a t-shirt that said “Gender is a Spectrum”, there is now a school would ban that shirt even if a student who wore that was actively engaging in bullying.

     “Some…” after all, “are more equal than others”.

Meanwhile… in a Massachusetts School.

     Heck, a child simply saying they don’t want drag queens twerking in front of their face would likely be prohibited speech, because only some students can invoke a right to “feel safe” since anyone deemed to be arguing from a position of systemic privilege can’t feel unsafe, dontchaknow.
