Hail Britannia, a Political Hadrian&#8217;s Wall, and a Sad Salmond"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Another \u201cquick takes\u201d on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The focus this time: The Scottish Referendum<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;First, a little mood music:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UwLtyvGdNbc\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Carrying on\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6764\" title=\"britannia small\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/britannia_small.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"140\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Scotland <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/uk-scotland-29270441\" target=\"_blank\">rejected<\/a> leaving the United Kingdom by over 10 points \u2014 much larger than the most recent polls suggested.\u00a0 Only four of the thirty-two councils <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/events\/scotland-decides\/results\" target=\"_blank\">voted for independence<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The margin may have had to do with Prime Minister David Cameron promising to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/uk-scotland-29270441\" target=\"_blank\">devolve even more power<\/a> to Scotland.\u00a0 Unsurprisingly, this has caused Northern Ireland and Wales to demand additional devolved powers themselves.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" title=\"Eagle Divider\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more-->&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;One would think that the promise of more devolved powers being given to Scotland would aggravate the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/West_Lothian_question\" target=\"_blank\">West Lothian Question<\/a>&#8220;\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Under the devolution packages passed under former Prime Minister Tony Blair, Scotland and Wales were given control of, respectively, &#8220;Scotland-only&#8221; and &#8220;Wales-only&#8221; affairs with their own local parliaments, but England only issues were still taken up by the U.K. Parliament, with Welsh, Scottish, and Northern Irish members of Parliament voting on it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Concomitant with the promise of more devolved powers going to Scotland, has been the promise to devolve powers to <em>England<\/em>.\u00a0 Though not being given its own separate Parliament, Scottish members of the U.K. Parliament will be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/uknews\/scottish-independence\/11108046\/The-English-question-answered-Scottish-MPs-to-be-barred-from-voting-on-English-laws.html\" target=\"_blank\">barred from voting<\/a> on &#8220;England-only&#8221; issues.\u00a0 Presumably, Wales and Northern Ireland would eventually follow Scotland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;This would result in a massive political shift politically when &#8220;English-only&#8221;
