{"id":4825,"date":"2014-02-03T01:24:28","date_gmt":"2014-02-03T08:24:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/politicalhat.com\/?p=4825"},"modified":"2014-02-03T01:24:28","modified_gmt":"2014-02-03T08:24:28","slug":"california-on-the-verge-of-legalizing-racial-discrimination","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/2014\/02\/03\/california-on-the-verge-of-legalizing-racial-discrimination\/","title":{"rendered":"California on the Verge of Legalizing Racial Discrimination"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The California state Senate passed a Constitutional Amendment that would <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/local\/political\/la-me-ln-race-gender-could-be-considered-in-college-admissions-under-proposed-inititive--20140130,0,5548912.story#axzz2rysZPWM9\" target=\"_blank\">legalize racial discrimination<\/a> in schools and state colleges, including the University of California.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3144\" title=\"scales-of-justice\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/scales-of-justice.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"168\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In 1996, then-Regent of the University of California Board of Regents supported the California Civil Rights Initiative (CCRI), also known as Prop. 209.\u00a0 The primary passage was:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The State shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Yet this is accused of furthering <em>inequality<\/em>!\u00a0 The proposed change, <a href=\"http:\/\/leginfo.legislature.ca.gov\/faces\/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=201320140SCA5\" target=\"_blank\">SCA 5<\/a>, would remove public education from the protection against discrimination.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 It is the old argument that &#8220;Whiteness&#8221; is <a title=\"The \u201cPrivilege\u201d of Being Discriminated Against\" href=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/2013\/11\/30\/the-privilege-of-being-discriminated-against\/\" target=\"_blank\">institutional<\/a> and that non-Whites (AKA &#8220;Historically Underrepresented Minorities&#8221;) receive preference due to their race and that this <a title=\"The Myth of \u201cPrivilege\u201d\" href=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/2013\/04\/24\/the-myth-of-privilege\/\" target=\"_blank\">racial privilege<\/a> is so dominant, that all other factors can be ignored. \u00a0In essence, <a title=\"When Equality is Racist\" href=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/2013\/09\/05\/when-equality-if-racist\/\" target=\"_blank\">equality is racist<\/a>.\u00a0 They must qualify the use of &#8220;underrepresented minorities&#8221; with &#8220;historically&#8221; because the main overrepresented group is &#8220;Asian.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more-->&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;State Sen.
