     The California state Senate passed a Constitutional Amendment that would legalize racial discrimination<\/a> in schools and state colleges, including the University of California.<\/p>\n

     In 1996, then-Regent of the University of California Board of Regents supported the California Civil Rights Initiative (CCRI), also known as Prop. 209.\u00a0 The primary passage was:<\/p>\n

“The State shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

     Yet this is accused of furthering inequality<\/em>!\u00a0 The proposed change, SCA 5<\/a>, would remove public education from the protection against discrimination.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 It is the old argument that “Whiteness” is institutional<\/a> and that non-Whites (AKA “Historically Underrepresented Minorities”) receive preference due to their race and that this racial privilege<\/a> is so dominant, that all other factors can be ignored. \u00a0In essence, equality is racist<\/a>.\u00a0 They must qualify the use of “underrepresented minorities” with “historically” because the main overrepresented group is “Asian.”<\/p>\n

     State Sen. Kevin de Le\u00f3n, stated<\/a> during the debate: “If it weren’t for affirmative action, I,Kevin de Le\u00f3n, wouldn’t be here today”.\u00a0 Your humble author can see no better argument against<\/em> Affirmative Action.<\/p>\n
