{"id":2180,"date":"2013-05-06T13:22:25","date_gmt":"2013-05-06T20:22:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/politicalhat.com\/?p=2180"},"modified":"2013-05-06T13:22:25","modified_gmt":"2013-05-06T20:22:25","slug":"the-greatest-trick-obama-ever-played","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/2013\/05\/06\/the-greatest-trick-obama-ever-played\/","title":{"rendered":"The Greatest Trick Obama Ever Played&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>&#8230;was convincing the world tyranny doesn&#8217;t exist.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;President Obama recently gave a commencement speech in which he declared that students should reject those who warn of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2013\/05\/05\/obama_to_ohio_state_grads_reject_voices_that_warn_about_government_tyranny.html\" target=\"_blank\">the possibility of tyranny<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AIOF5R-7rx8\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Obama says, in part:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Unfortunately, you&#8217;ve grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity that&#8217;s at the root of all our problems. Some of these same voices also do their best to gum up the works. They&#8217;ll warn that tyranny always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;No.\u00a0 Tyranny <em>is always<\/em> just around the corner.\u00a0 We must always be on guard against it.\u00a0 The Constitution and the Bill of Rights are build upon the assumptions that our liberties and our very freedom will <em>always<\/em> be under siege, and that we must perpetually be on guard against those who would tear them down.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more-->&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Obama goes on to say that &#8220;<em>they suggest is that our brave, and creative, and unique experiment in self-rule is somehow just a sham with which we can&#8217;t be trusted.<\/em>&#8221;\u00a0 What Obama is doing, is conflating <em>the people<\/em> with <em>the government<\/em>.\u00a0 It is, as your humble author has noted before, &#8220;the <a title=\"Obama\u2019s Totalitarian Freedom\" href=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/2013\/04\/08\/obamas-totalitarian-freedom\/\">ultimate collectivist<\/a> view:\u00a0 There is no separation between society and state; one blends softly, casually into the other until they are concomitant with each other.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;As Ann Althouse has <a href=\"http:\/\/althouse.blogspot.com\/2013\/04\/i-am-constrained-by-system-that-our.html\" target=\"_blank\">noted before<\/a>, Obama&#8217;s view of the state and its relation to the people is that &#8220;<em>Government is not to be regarded as in need of limits, because the government is us. Anything we \u2014 the government \u2014 want to do is never tyranny, but freedom<\/em>.&#8221;\u00a0 This is echoed in Obama&#8217;s speech when he says:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Because we understand that this democracy is ours.
