The United Kingdom is well known for waging a war on sharp pointed objects<\/a> (give or take a stick). They are also becoming well known for having a two-tiered justice system<\/a> where some lives are ranking higher than others. In fact, they seem to rank, after a fashion, the undead higher than some living. \u00a0 Case in point (pun intended): The prohibition on \u201cZombie<\/a> Knives<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cFrom 24 September, it will be illegal to own zombie-style knives and machetes as they will be added to the list of dangerous prohibited items already banned, including zombie knives, butterfly knives, Samurai swords and push daggers.<\/p>\n \u201cAhead of the new ban coming into force, anyone who has one of these weapons is being urged to hand them over \u2013 safely and legally.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n And just what are \u201cZombie Knives\u201d? That\u2019s not completely clear<\/a>. \u00a0 One news report states that:<\/p>\n \u201cA zombie-style knife or machete is officially described as a \u201cbladed article with a plain cutting edge, a sharp pointed end and 3 a blade of over eight inches in length\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThe weapons must also have a serrated cutting edge, more than one hole in the blade, spikes and more than two sharp points in the blade.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is understood that they get their name from a comment by a employee of the American firm who invented them in 2011, who joked about \u2018the need for knives capable of killing a zombie when firearms aren\u2019t available\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Another news report states<\/a>:<\/p>\n \u201cA zombie knife, also known as a zombie killer knife or zombie slayer knife, is a blade with a cutting edge, a serrated edge and images or words either on the blade or handle which suggest it is to be used for violence.<\/p>\n \u201cZombie knives are already included in the list of banned knives, meaning it is illegal to possess them, bring them into the UK, sell or hire them out or lend them to someone.<\/p>\n \u201cBut this only applies to the weapons which meet the three criteria: cutting edge, serrated edge and words or images that imply they are to be used for violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n And what does the British government say? Well, they have to provide example diagrams and \u201cmaths\u201d<\/a> to calculate the illegality of the knives!<\/p>\n Alas, the U.K. is not the pioneer in zombie rights as they may seem.
