Why would you necessarily want to prolong such a life? In \u2018We Can\u2019t Afford a Taboo on Assisted Dying,\u2019 he writes (my emphasis):<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2018I can\u2019t dispute the objectors\u2019 belief that once assisted dying becomes normalized we will become more apt to ask yourselves for how much longer we can justify the struggle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe word \u2018justify\u2019 is telling. It does not only concern the suffering of the person who is ill, disabled, or elderly but the suffering that person is supposedly causing to family and society.
