It is on her upper arm, and the ink letters spell out crystal clear instructions: \u2018Don\u2019t euthanize me.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIn today\u2019s Canada, Nagel finds it necessary.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cShe told Amanda Achtman, who works with Canadian Physicians for Life, why the tattoo is so important in an interview for Achtman\u2019s Substack \u2018Dying to Meet You\u2019 in August. \u2018Because the government passed a bill that is a way to eradicate human life, but human life is a gift from God,\u2019 Nagel said. \u2018We don\u2019t decide when it begins; no more do we decide when it ends.\u2019 Nagel was born in London, England, in 1935 and came to Canada in 1957, adopting a total of seven children and surviving an abusive marriage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cNagel\u2019s tattoo serves a dual purpose: to ensure that those around her respect her right to life should they need to be reminded, and to advocate for her view that all life is sacred \u2013 a view her country, unfortunately, has chosen to abandon. \u2018I know I\u2019m here for a reason,\u2019 she told Achtman. \u2018Because God wanted me to be. You want to be born into this family and eventually raise His children, do whatever I can to follow His way and to be with Him. And the older I get, the closer I am to God. Respect the life you have. It\u2019s a gift from God.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more-->&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;When you normalize euthanasia for the disabled, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/euthanasia-cultural-collateral-damage-less-respect-for-human-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">their lives legally become less valuable<\/a>, as has happened in, yet again, Canada:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cA recent homicide case in Canada further illustrates the point. As regular readers of my work are well aware, Canada has fallen off the euthanasia moral cliff by allowing broad categories of people to be killed by doctors as a means of ending \u201csuffering.\u201d But that denigrating attitude toward people with serious health conditions is catching on, and now, a man who killed his disabled wife has only had his hand slightly slapped on the wrist by a judge for the crime. From the Edmonton Journal story:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2018A retired accountant who killed his severely disabled wife will be allowed to serve his sentence on house arrest rather than in prison, with a judge ruling the accused\u2019s \u2018caregiver burnout\u2019 lessens his moral responsibility for the crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2018Belzile pleaded guilty last month to manslaughter for injecting Christiane Belzile \u2014 a 69-year-old, non-verbal stroke survivor for whom Francois Belzile had been sole caregiver for seven years \u2014 with a lethal dose of insulin after she was injured in a fall in 2018. Belzile then tried to end his own life.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cDespite Francois\u2019s refusal of state assistance \u2014 and a threat to end their lives if they ceased to be able to live \u201cindependently\u201d before the crime \u2014 he was deemed unable to form intent to murder and allowed to plead guilty to manslaughter.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Euthanasia has turned from a distortion of the medical practice into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/pushing-death-the-alarming-spread-of-assisted-suicide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the goal of medicine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2018[T]he introduction of death care \u2014 in each state of Australia; in Canada, Belgium, and the Netherlands; recently in Spain and soon in France; and in ten states and counting across the United States \u2014 was meant to provide another treatment option in end-of-life care, another tool for use by physicians and their patients.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cBut something deeply disturbing has occurred. \u2018At the core of death care is the presumption that safeguards work and that consent, the most important safeguard, prevents death care from slipping into rampant homicide or suicide contagion. Instead, it is turning into the end of medicine.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt\u2019s easy to see where this leads. \u2018In Belgium last year,\u2019 Raikin reports, \u2018after a lethal injection failed to kill a 36-year-old woman with terminal cancer, the presiding physician smothered her with a pillow.
