The decision comes after years of requests from some Dutch doctors to lower the age limit of 12 for euthanasia, as well as debate within the cabinet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAccording to the Dutch government, \u2018The end of life for this [age] group is the only reasonable alternative to the child\u2019s unbearable and hopeless suffering.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And no, any sane person knows this won\u2019t be limited to the terminally ill.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cDutch MDs kill babies born with terminal or seriously disabling conditions already under the Groningen Protocol. Given that Dutch doctors euthanize many people \u2014 including elderly couples, young women with anorexia, the disabled, and people with mental illnesses \u2014 the notion that euthanasia will be \u2018strictly\u2019 limited to children close to death whose suffering cannot otherwise be ameliorated is bitterly laughable on its face.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Guess you <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/UAKRV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">can\u2019t kill &#8217;em all<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c[I]n the case of five-year-old Ashya King, the child\u2019s parents and his NHS doctors could not reach an agreement. Ashya was suffering from a medulloblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor, for which he had two surgeries. To prevent the tumor from returning, King\u2019s parents wanted their son to receive proton-beam therapy, arguing it would be less harmful than conventional X-ray radiotherapy. The NHS did not provide proton-beam therapy at the time, though it sponsored a limited number of cases to be treated abroad; the hospital\u2019s lead pediatrician concluded that in Ashya\u2019s case \u201cit was not deemed to be of any benefit.\u201d The hospital recommended the conventional route of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Time was of the essence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhen Ashya\u2019s parents disregarded the hospital\u2019s medical advice, taking Ashya from the British hospital to seek treatment abroad, they sparked an international manhunt, which authorities justified by concerns that Ashya\u2019s life would be in danger if his parents mishandled his feeding tube, which they had not been shown how to use.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe Kings boarded a ferry to France along with Ashya and his six siblings and eventually made it to Spain, by which point a European arrest warrant had been issued on suspicion of neglect.
