<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Carrying on\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5372\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/EaglewithFlag.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"203\" height=\"176\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Science must be made to serve the cause, and scientist be made to <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/T4JuC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">obey<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAt Texas Tech University, a candidate for a faculty job in the department of biological sciences was flagged by the department\u2019s search committee for not knowing the difference between \u2018equality\u2019 and \u2018equity.\u2019 Another was flagged for his repeated use of the pronoun \u2018he\u2019 when referring to professors. Still another was praised for having made a \u201cland acknowledgment\u201d during the interview process. A land acknowledgment is a statement noting that Native Americans once lived in what is now the United States.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAmidst the explosion of university diversity, equity and inclusion policies, Texas Tech\u2019s biology department adopted its own DEI motion promising to \u2018require and strongly weight a diversity statement from all candidates.\u2019 These short, written declarations are meant to summarize an academic job seeker\u2019s past and potential contributions to DEI efforts on campus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe biology department\u2019s motion mandates that every search committee issue a report on its diversity statement evaluations. Through a Freedom of Information Act request, I have acquired the evaluations of more than a dozen job candidates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cTo my knowledge, these documents\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/o\/T4JuC\/https:\/\/www.nas.org\/storage\/app\/media\/New%20Documents\/FOIA\/Texas_Tech_FOIA_Documents_Redacted.pdf\">published in redacted form<\/a> by the National Association of Scholars\u2014are the first evaluations of prospective faculty DEI contributions to be made publicly available. They confirm what critics of DEI statements have long argued: That they inevitably act as ideological litmus tests.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--> Doctors are being taught that objective biological reality is \u201cassigned\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/restoring-america\/equality-not-elitism\/university-michigan-teaches-future-doctors-gender-assigned\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">as if by magic<\/a>\u2026<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cStudents at the University of Michigan Medical School are taught basic anatomy is \u2018assigned\u2019 by doctors at birth, according to teaching materials reviewed by the Washington Examiner.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cSlides reviewing the \u2018foundational anatomy\u2019 of the pelvic region, which were created for first-year medical students, separate male and female body parts into the categories of \u2018assigned male at birth (AMAB)\u2019 and \u2018assigned female at birth (AFAB).\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Filtering faculty hires by their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecollegefix.com\/osu-requires-dei-statements-from-mechanical-aerospace-engineer-job-applicants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">loyalty<\/a> to \u201cdiversity\u201d is nothing new, and isn\u2019t getting old, at least as far as colleges are concerned.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cScholars seeking a job in Ohio State University\u2019s College of Engineering must pledge their allegiance to diversity, equity and inclusion as part of the process.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cUniversity officials ask applicants to provide a statement that describes their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, along with \u2018specific examples such as teaching and\/or mentoring students from underrepresented backgrounds, outreach activities to underrepresented groups, or conducting research that address social inequities,\u2019 according to a copy of the application rubric recently tweeted by John Sailer with the National Association of Scholars.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe hiring parameters were shown through current open positions within OSU\u2019s College of Engineering, which includes a tenure-track faculty position in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department as well as a tenure-track faculty position as an assistant professor in the Knowlton School of Architecture and Administration.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThese positions are hiring for OSU\u2019s nuclear engineering programs and its urban design Race, Inclusion, and Social Equity, or RAISE, initiative, respectively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe application also states scholars are expected to participate in and support DEI efforts, which has drawn concern from liberty advocates and state lawmakers.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> TTFN.<\/p>\n<p><meta name=\"twitter:card\" content=\"summary\" \/><meta name=\"twitter:site\" content=\"@PoliticHatBlog\" \/><meta name=\"twitter:creator\" content=\"@ThePoliticalHat\" \/><meta name=\"twitter:title\" content=\"'DEI': Diversity Failing Science; Excluding Biological Reality From Medicine; Inequality Mandated For Faculty Statements In Aerospace Programs\"\/><meta name=\"twitter:description\" content=\"The focus this time: Praxis in action.\" \/><meta name=\"twitter:image\" content=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/EaglewithFlag.gif\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> Another “quick takes” on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.
