Following news of the pregnancy, High Court judge Emma Arbuthnot ruled that aborting the baby in the womb is in the girl\u2019s best interests and that the placenta should be tested for DNA for the upcoming criminal investigation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe girl, who is 15 weeks pregnant, said that the baby made her feel \u201cspecial\u201d and that she was \u201chappy\u201d to be pregnant. The girl\u2019s mom initially said she supported her daughter\u2019s desire to carry the baby to term. However, after being persuaded that their daughter\u2019s chances of dying during childbirth were increased, the parents later consented to the abortion. If the parents did not agree, their child would have been removed from their custody by law enforcement and forced to have one.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more-->&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Are the any people more unethical than \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/peter-singer-compares-abortion-to-turning-off-a-computer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ethicists<\/a>\u201d?<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cTo understand Singer\u2019s perspective: He doesn\u2019t believe that human life has moral value simply because he or she is human. Rather, value has to be earned, primarily be being self-aware or able to value life. He argues that self-aware entities are \u201cpersons\u201d \u2014 including some animals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHe also believes that non-self-aware beings\u2013including human infants, unborn babies, and people who have serious dementia, persistent unconsciousness or minimal consciousness\u2013are not persons. Non-persons, in his view, have lower moral value than persons, and indeed, can be killed or used instrumentally for the benefit of persons, such as being experimented upon. Thus, Singer has argued that cognitively disabled humans should have been used to research hepatitis and HIV vaccines rather than chimpanzees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cNo wonder Singer compares turning off a non-sentient AI machine to abortion:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2018But, according to Peter Singer, that doesn\u2019t mean we can\u2019t stop AI in its tracks before it becomes self-aware. \u201cI think that\u2019s more like terminating a pregnancy . . . so I would say it\u2019s okay to turn off an AI that predictably will become self-aware if you leave it running, but isn\u2019t as yet.\u201d\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cSo, killing an unborn baby \u2014 a nascent human being with a beating heart \u2014 is akin to turning off a sophisticated computer.
