     Ireland is considering a law that would jail people<\/a> for expressing \u201chate speech<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cIrish citizens who campaign against transgender women being able to use female changing rooms or crisis centres risk jail under an \u201cOrwellian\u201d hate-speech law, critics have claimed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Irish senate last week debated the controversial Criminal Justice (Incitement to Violence or Hatred and Hate Offences) Bill 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe bill seeks to expand the range of people protected from hate speech to include those with \u2018gender identities\u2019, including transgender or \u2018gender other than those of male or female\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cSupporters of the bill argue that Ireland needs to update its hate-speech protections to match the evolution of society and social media.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

     And yes, restricting freedom<\/a> for what the state of Ireland considers \u201cthe common good<\/a>\u201d is exactly what they are openly saying they are doing.<\/p>\n
