She killed her son and four daughters, aged between three and 14, in Nivelles, Belgium on 28 February 2007. On 28 February 2023, she was euthanised, after she successfully invoked her \u2018right to die\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis case exposes the logical and ethical problems of euthanasia and assisted suicide in Belgium and elsewhere. And, above all, it undermines one of assisted-suicide campaigners\u2019 central claims \u2013 that euthanasia is an act of \u2018autonomy and choice\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAfter all, how can a prisoner \u2013 or someone in a psychiatric facility \u2013 make a free and uncoerced decision to die? A prisoner cannot even have a private consultation with a doctor, as guards must always be present. A prisoner is told when to get up, when to eat, when to go to bed. His or her entire life is coerced.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cBelgium is not the only nation to euthanise prisoners. In Canada, where assisted suicide is also offered as a medical treatment, three prisoners have been euthanised to date. The story of one of them, known only as \u2018patient one\u2019, illustrates the key problem with this practice. He informed his parole officer that he wished to receive medical assistance in dying (MAID) and was advised to first apply for compassionate release. This was denied, at which point he submitted a request for MAID, which was accepted. He was shackled and guards were present during the assessment of his request.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--> It would be a nightmare to a parent to be informed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/canadian-parliamentary-committee-recommends-euthanasia-for-minors-without-parental-consent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the state has killed their child<\/a>. Yet, that is what Canada is being recommended to do by ghouls.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c[A] report was just published by the Canadian Parliament\u2019s Special Joint Committee on Medical Assistance in Dying (AMAD). Surprise! It calls for even further expansion of the already permissive law that allows terminally ill and chronically ill adults, people with disabilities, and the frail elderly to opt to be killed by doctors or nurse practitioners. The mentally ill are scheduled to be included in this dismal list next month under existing law, but that may be put off for a year because of domestic and international agitation around the issue. But, mark my words, they too will eventually become eligible for the lethal jab.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe committee has now recommended that \u2018mature minors\u2019 whose deaths are \u2018reasonably foreseeable\u2019 be allowed to access death \u2014 perhaps even without parental consent. From, the AMAD report\u2019s recommendations:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2018Recommendation 14: That the Government of Canada undertake consultations with minors on the topic of MAID, including minors with terminal illnesses, minors with disabilities, minors in the child welfare system and Indigenous minors, within five years of the tabling of this report.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2018Recommendation 15: That the Government of Canada provide funding through Health Canada and other relevant departments for research into the views and experiences of minors with respect to MAID, including minors with terminal illnesses, minors with disabilities, minors in the child welfare system and Indigenous minors, to be completed within five years of the tabling of this report.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Even if you want to live, Canada will go out of the way to make your life so miserable that you\u2019ll opt in to be killed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.castanet.net\/news\/Kelowna\/370656\/Kelowna-man-exasperated-as-elderly-friend-struggles-to-receive-healthcare-at-home#370656\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">just to escape<\/a> their \u201cquality\u201d socialist healthcare system.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe health authority said those needing home support services are provided assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing or grooming as well as medical administration and catheter maintenance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cInterior Health said the home support needs of individuals are determined through an assessment and when a client\u2019s care needs change, their personal care plan is updated to reflect any changes to care \u2013 which may include offering a client additional appointments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCampbell says that since Castanet began making inquiries on Monday, Obenauer has received increased care, but there was a time when Obenauer\u2019s care providers were talking about signing him up for palliative care and B.C.\u2019s medical assistance in dying program.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2018They asked me if I thought Randy would consider the MAiD program and I said, well, no, he doesn\u2019t want to die any sooner than he\u2019s going to die. I was kind of shocked by that,\u2019 said Campbell.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cInterior Health says MAiD is an option for individuals in B.C. who are approaching the end of life and who meet the eligibility criteria.
