autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Carrying on\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-66\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/SkullRx.gif\" alt=\"Death, Rx\" width=\"287\" height=\"269\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;To the Beligans, any potential punishment for violating those \u201cstrict safeguards\u201d to make sure that doctor doesn\u2019t just start killing people at random is too much, and that it must be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brusselstimes.com\/belgium\/310309\/constitutional-court-voids-belgiums-euthanasia-law\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">made easier for a doctor to kill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIn a remarkable ruling, Belgium&#8217;s Constitutional Court has declared the country&#8217;s euthanasia law to be unconstitutional and will therefore need to be modified.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe ruling does not imply that euthanasia is, or soon will be, illegal in Belgium: rather, it merely notes that key provisions of the law cannot be consistently reconciled with Belgium&#8217;s Constitution.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIn its written judgment, the Court concluded that Article 3 of the current euthanasia law implies that violation of the so-called &#8216;procedural&#8217; conditions for legally ending someone&#8217;s life is punishable by the same standards as the violation of so-called &#8216;fundamental&#8217; conditions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis, the Court argued, is both intuitively unreasonable \u2014 given that it implies that a doctor who violated a minor procedural condition while administering euthanasia would be technically guilty of murder \u2014 but it is also unconstitutional, insofar as it violates the principles of equality and non-discrimination enshrined by Articles 10 and 11 of the Belgian Constitution.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe Court&#8217;s ruling follows that of a controversial recent legal case in the city of Dendermonde in East Flanders, in which several doctors were acquitted of the murder of Tine Nys, a 38-year-old patient who claimed to be experiencing &#8220;unbearable psychological suffering.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe doctors&#8217; defence counsel successfully argued that was unjustifiable to accuse the doctors administering Nys&#8217; euthanasia of murder when they had only violated a procedural condition.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;What does this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/belgian-euthanasia-law-ruled-unconstitutional-for-being-too-restrictive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mean<\/a>?<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cRather than restricting doctor-administered death, the ruling in fact means that the law will be amended to make it easier and less risky to euthanize the mentally ill, elderly couples who fear widowhood, very sick babies, the victims of botched sex-change surgeries, the chronically ill and disabled, people with PTSD, etc., with organ harvesting thrown in the deal as a plum to society.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more-->&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Telemidicine is not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/vermont-legalizes-assisted-suicide-by-zoom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tele-euthanasia<\/a>, in Vermont.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cVermont has legalized assisted suicide by Zoom or Skype. The new law also eliminates the previous requirement that the doctor have examined the patient. In other words, the poison-prescribing doctor would seem to never have to actually meet the patient in person. From the recently passed and signed <a href=\"https:\/\/legislature.vermont.gov\/Documents\/2022\/Docs\/BILLS\/S-0074\/S-0074%20As%20Passed%20by%20Both%20House%20and%20Senate%20Official.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S 74<\/a> \u2026:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0 (a) A physician shall not be subject to any civil or criminal liability or professional disciplinary action if the physician prescribes to a patient with a terminal condition medication to be self-administered for the purpose of hastening the patient\u2019s death and the physician affirms by documenting in the patient\u2019s medical record that all of the following occurred:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 (1) The patient made an oral request to the physician in the physician\u2019s physical presence or by telemedicine, if the physician determines the use of telemedicine to be clinically appropriate, for medication to be self-administered for the purpose of hastening the patient\u2019s death.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 (2) No Not fewer than 15 days after the first oral request, the patient made a second oral request to the physician in the physician\u2019s physical presence or by telemedicine, if the physician determines the use of telemedicine to be clinically appropriate, for medication to be self-administered for the purpose of hastening the patient\u2019s death.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cStrict guidelines protect against abuse! Except they were never strict, and those that do exist are not intended to stick.
