According to a report in the Spanish magazine Redacc\u00edon M\u00e9dica, 7 patients donated their organs \u2013 even though the government has still not release national guidelines for such procedures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhy the rush?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe head of Spain\u2019s National Transplant Organization (ONT), Beatriz Dom\u00ednguez-Gil, said that the ONT \u2018intuited\u2019 [sic] that some euthanasia patients would like to donate their organs. It quickly drafted some guidelines for transplant coordinators so that euthanasia donation could be \u2018normalised\u2019 throughout the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more-->&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;That fad from Benelux has finally arrived <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/UtyMU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">legally in Italy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cFor more than a year, media reports kept Italians up to date on the travails of a 44-year-old man known only as \u201cMario\u201d as he sought to end his life through physician-assisted suicide. Paralyzed 12 years ago in a traffic accident, \u2018Mario\u2019 faced a series of legal, bureaucratic and financial hurdles in his pursuit of death.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOn Thursday, \u2018Mario,\u2019 identified for the first time by his real name, Federico Carboni, ended his life, becoming Italy\u2019s first legal assisted suicide, in his home in the central Italian port town of Senigallia.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;By court fiat, euthanasia has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/austrias-parliament-legalizes-assisted-suicide\/a-60154513\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">legalized in Austria<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe Austrian parliament on Thursday voted to legalize assisted suicide from January after a court ruling said its ban breached fundamental human rights.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe ban would have expired at the end of this year anyway, and the new legislation means it can only take place in accordance with strict criteria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;What conditions must be met?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe Assisted Suicide Act gives the option of an advance directive \u2014 similar to a living will \u2014 only to people over 18 who are terminally ill or suffer from a permanent, debilitating condition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cEach case is to be assessed by two doctors, one of whom would have to be an expert in palliative medicine. As part of their duties, they must determine whether a patient is opting for euthanasia independently.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAt least 12 weeks must pass before a patient is granted access to the procedure, to ensure that euthanasia is not being sought due to a temporary crisis.
