{"id":19183,"date":"2022-04-06T00:03:26","date_gmt":"2022-04-06T07:03:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/politicalhat.com\/?p=19183"},"modified":"2022-04-06T00:03:26","modified_gmt":"2022-04-06T07:03:26","slug":"woke-law-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/2022\/04\/06\/woke-law-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Woke Law School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7713\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/51191Metallica-Justice-for-All-Posters.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"291\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/51191Metallica-Justice-for-All-Posters.jpg 291w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/51191Metallica-Justice-for-All-Posters-218x300.jpg 218w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 291px) 100vw, 291px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Those who try to excuse Critical Race Theory as merely an \u201cobscure legal theory\u201d seem to ignore that fact that in more and more law schools, Critical Race Theory is quickly becoming the central tenet of the legal profession if not the whole of the law. \u00a0 Aaron Sibarium, of the Free Beacon, examines the <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/scary-for-the-legal-profession-georgetown-upends-traditional-law-school-lessons-in-new-woke-curriculum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">materials and requirements of Georgetown Law School<\/a>, which is intended to be a \u201cmodel\u201d for other law schools.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAt most law schools, the first few weeks of property law are spent on foundational cases of British common law. At Georgetown University, they are spent on structural racism and cultural appropriation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cStudents in professor Madhavi Sunder&#8217;s mandatory first-year course learn on day one that the history of American property law is \u2018the history of dispossession and appropriation,\u2019 according to videos of the course reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon. Lecture slides from the first month of coursework trace the \u2018birth\u2019 of modern property law not to English courts, but to \u2018Native dispossession and the enslavement of African Americans.\u2019 \u2018Possession,\u2019 one slide asserts, \u2018is a legal term of art for a settler capitalist society.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThese legacies of oppression \u2018continue in contemporary doctrines\u2019 of property, Sunder said on the first day of class this semester. For example, her slides explain, \u2018Intellectual Property has a cultural appropriation problem,\u2019 especially when it comes to black choreographers: Their dance moves were allegedly appropriated by the popular video game Fortnite, and by white influencers on TikTok.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cTo help her students conceptualize the problem, Sunder quotes the \u2018antiracist\u2019 author Ijeoma Oluo, who defines cultural appropriation as the \u2018adoption or exploitation of another culture by a more dominant culture.\u2019 Students are then asked to apply this definition to intellectual property law, according to the slides.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cSunder wasn&#8217;t just putting her own spin on a stereotypically dry class; she was also laying the groundwork for a sweeping transformation of the law school curriculum.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIn September 2021, Georgetown Law&#8217;s faculty voted to adopt a new \u2018institutional learning outcome\u2019: All students will be expected to graduate with the \u2018ability to think critically about the law&#8217;s claim to neutrality and its differential effects on subordinated groups, including those identified by race, gender, indigeneity, and class,\u2019 according to a faculty motion reviewed by the Free Beacon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThese themes, the motion states, are \u2018foundational knowledge\u2019 that \u2018should be advanced throughout the entire first-year curriculum.\u2019 To that end, the motion directs a number of administrators\u2014including the &#8220;Associate Dean for Equity and Inclusion&#8221;\u2014to \u2018identify first-year professors\u2019 who already \u2018advance the new institutional learning outcome\u2019 in their courses. Sunder is one of those professors: She told her students that her course would \u2018satisfy\u2019 the new requirement, as would &#8220;many other property classes&#8221; at Georgetown.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;There is, of course, much more of this <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/campus\/scary-for-the-legal-profession-georgetown-upends-traditional-law-school-lessons-in-new-woke-curriculum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">madness<\/a> in the article.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more-->&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;And if there was any doubt that this is indeed Critical Race Theory, we see all three core requirements for Critical Theory, not only the praxis (here it is the indoctrination of increasingly more and more future lawyers) and the reflection (also part and parcel of the curriculum), but the presumption of an evil that must be <a href=\"https:\/\/threadreaderapp.com\/thread\/1509185331026874379.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">identified<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/o6Qsb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">targeted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" align=\"center\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The certification process will &quot;require a detailed examination of the course&#39;s syllabus&quot; by the associate dean for academic affairs, &quot;in close consultation with the Associate Dean for Equity and Inclusion.&quot; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/8W7aWSEYMh\">pic.twitter.com\/8W7aWSEYMh<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Aaron Sibarium (@aaronsibarium) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/aaronsibarium\/status\/1509185385875791875?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 30, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script> <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Who will defend the Constitution in court if all the lawyers and the judges have been fully indoctrination with this poisonous wokeness?
