This is this person\u2019s last day on Earth. You want to take everything into account and consider as many things as possible.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Darcy Harris is a professor of thanatology \u2014 the study of death and dying \u2014 at King\u2019s University College in London, Ont. She also worked as a hospice nurse earlier in her career. She says the trend makes sense.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2018Funeral homes are usually very nicely appointed and the staff are service-orientated and are comfortable talking about death,\u2019 she said.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more-->&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Portugal is getting in on the act of <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/europe-health-portugal-assisted-suicide-marcelo-rebelo-de-sousa-cba70c674337d4a177c9d4db4aa2d056\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">killing disabled people<\/a>, and doing so with gusto!<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe new version [of the law], approved in a 138-84 vote with five abstentions, has a much fuller description.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It refers to a \u2018serious injury, definitive and amply disabling, which makes a person dependent on others or on technology to undertake elementary tasks of daily life.\u2019 The bill states there must be \u2018very high certainty or probability that such limitations endure over time without the possibility of cure or significant improvement.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Dutch death doctors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/dutch-death-doctors-pitch-the-euthanasia-bull\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blind<\/a> to the slippery slope.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe latest apologia is published in JAMA Internal Medicine in response to an article demonstrating that the \u201cslippery slope\u201d in the Netherlands is very real. [\u2026] Three Dutch doctors respond that \u201cthe slippery slope is nonexistent.\u201d Good grief. From their letter:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2018On performing EAS [euthanasia, assisted suicide], physicians invoke force majeure, a legal concept based on an emergency situation instigated by a conflict of duties. This moral conflict consists of a physician\u2019s duty to protect life and a physician\u2019s duty to relieve suffering. . . . As such, physicians\u2019 assessment of unbearable suffering ensures due care in carrying out EAS. . . .<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2018According to the due care requirements, the patient\u2019s request should not only be voluntary, but also well considered. This again pinpoints narrative ethics that enable patients\u2019 clear insight into illness to make careful assessment of their story based on sufficient information provided by the physician.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOh, please. Here\u2019s a recent example of a so-called \u2018emergency situation\u2019 (hit the links for greater details). A dementia patient had indicated she would want euthanasia, but she wanted to decide when. After becoming incompetent, she never asked to be killed. Moreover, when the doctor brought it up, she repeatedly said no.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cSo what happened? Her doctor drugged the patient \u2014 and when she woke up and resisted the lethal jab, she had the family hold her down so the killing could be completed!
