Although the law forbids access to euthanasia on the grounds of disability alone, advocates feel it fundamentally changes the way vulnerable people will be perceived in New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThere are also concerns that the law\u2019s relatively narrow eligibility criteria could be broadened in future.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Par for the course for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/pro-euthanasia-referendum-garners-65-percent-of-new-zealand-vote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Zealand<\/a> now-a-days.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOf course it will. That very loosening is happening as I write these words in Canada, only a few years post-legalization.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAs I ponder this, I am struck how Kiwis epitomize contemporary progressive secular culture. When there was a mass shooting, guns were confiscated very quickly without protest about individual rights.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOne of the country\u2019s rivers has been declared a rights-bearing entity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cNew Zealanders also embraced one of the most draconian shut downs over COVID in the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThese are all symptoms of a civilizational disease. When human exceptionalism is discarded, the intrinsic value of human life becomes relativized and \u2018eliminating suffering\u2019 becomes the prime directive. If that means letting doctors eliminate sufferers, so be it. If it means sacrificing freedom on the altar of security, so be it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more-->&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Portugal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/world\/portugal-parliament-approves-law-to-legalise-euthanasia\/ar-BB1dcTQS?ocid=uxbndlbing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">joins<\/a> much of the rest of Western Europe in the cult o\u2019 death.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cPortugal&#8217;s parliament voted on Friday to legalise euthanasia, with the country set to become the seventh in the world to allow terminally ill patients to seek assistance from a doctor to end their life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cPeople aged over 18 will be allowed to request assistance in dying if they are terminally ill and suffering from \u2018lasting\u2019 and \u2018unbearable\u2019 pain &#8211; unless they are deemed not to be mentally fit to make such a decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Portugal joins <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/world\/portugal-parliament-approves-law-to-legalise-euthanasia\/ar-BB1dcTQS?ocid=uxbndlbing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">much of the European Union<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Germany has death-on-demand after its highest court ruled that committing suicide \u2014 for whatever reason \u2014 is a constitutional right and that having assistance is an ancillary aspect of that right.<\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>An Austrian court recently issued a similar ruling, although that remains subject to appeal.<\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>The Netherlands has lethal-injection euthanasia for all ages, including babies and children, and has conjoined doctor-administered death with organ harvesting \u2014 including of people who are mentally ill.<\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Belgian euthanasia law is as radical as that of the Netherlands. There have even been joint euthanasia killings of elderly couples and people with mental illnesses.<\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Spain recently legalized lethal-injection euthanasia.<\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Switzerland allows suicide clinics to make people dead for a fee, which created the \u201csuicide tourism\u201d phenomenon.<\/em><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Luxembourg permits lethal-injection euthanasia.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Even in the United States of America, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/legislature-health-assisted-suicide-new-mexico-bills-60f0647f39fbe408fc55d6c488c81af8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">it spreads<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe New Mexico state Senate has passed a law that would remove criminal and civil liability for medical professionals who assist in the death of terminally ill patients who have chosen to end their life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe Elizabeth Whitfield End-of-Life Options Act is named for a former New Mexico judge who testified in support for a right to die for the terminally ill in 2017.
