     Bills to combat the teaching and implementation of Critical Race Theory have been introduced on the state level including in Iowa, New Hampshire, and West Virginia. Now, a bill has been introduced<\/a> on the Federal level by Tom Cotton (R \u2013 AR).<\/p>\n

\u201cThe premise of Senator Cotton\u2019s legislation is that the military should encourage its members to \u2018love the United States,\u2019 defend the \u2018founding principles of the United States,\u2019 and maintain policies that treat people as \u2018human beings with equal dignity and protection under the law.\u2019 Critical race theory, according to the findings in the bill, undermines these three goals by presenting the United States as a racist, oppressive nation and by encouraging racial division under the guise of \u2018social justice.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cCotton\u2019s legislation would put an end to this. [\u2026] The bill would prohibit the armed forces from directly promoting the core tenets of critical race theory: that \u2018the United States of America is a fundamentally racist Nation;\u2019 that \u2018an individual, by virtue of his or her race, is inherently racist or oppressive;\u2019 and that \u2018an individual, because of his or her race, bears responsibility for the actions committed by other members of his or her race.\u2019 The bill also includes a provision against segregating members of the armed forces by race, which has become common practice in many CRT training programs.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

     The key passage of the bill reads:<\/p>\n

SEC. 3. PROHIBITION ON PROMOTION OF ANTI-AMERICAN AND RACIST THEORIES.<\/p>\n

(a) IN GENERAL.\u2014The United States Armed Forces and academic institutions operated or controlled by the Department of Defense shall not promote the following anti-American and racist theories:<\/p>\n

(1) Any race is inherently superior or inferior to any other race.<\/p>\n

(2) The United States of America is a fundamentally racist country.<\/p>\n

(3) The Declaration of Independence or the United States Constitution are fundamentally racist documents.<\/p>\n

(4) An individual\u2019s moral character or worth is determined by his or her race.<\/p>\n

(5) An individual, by virtue of his or her race, is inherently racist or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously.<\/p>\n

(6) An individual, because of his or her race, bears responsibility for the actions committed by other members of his or her race.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

     It\u2019s a good start, but this should apply to the rest of the government and considered racial harassment in businesses giving grounds for employees to sue.<\/p>\n
