The change is one of 7,600 updates the online resource has announced, which also include the addition of terms relevant to race, social justice and identity, such as \u2018BIPOC\u2019 (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) and \u2018Critical Race Theory.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe latest updates \u2014 which also include capitalizing \u2018Indigenous\u2019 when referring to people, and adding entries for \u2018racialization,\u2019 \u2018disenfranchisement\u2019 and \u2018overpolice\u2019 \u2014 follow those announced last September. That round of revisions saw the capitalization of the word Black in reference to people, and the addition of terms relevant to mental health (specifically, suicide and addiction) and LGBTQ identity. But because it can also refer to a race in reference to the hue of the people associated with said race, then the word \u201cblack\u201d must never be uttered in a negative way <a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/students-want-word-black-banned-142514068.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">regardless of context<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cUniversity students have demanded the word \u2018black\u2019 be banned from lectures and textbooks amid claims it symbolises “negative situations”.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cUndergraduates at the University of Manchester say the colour’s use as an adjective is stemmed in \u2018colonial history\u2019, which has become outdated in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cSupporters are calling for commonly used phrases such as “black sheep” to be removed from lecture slides and books, while concerns have also been raised about “blackmail” and “black market” during a student union-led audit of racism concerns on campus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe University said it is preparing to roll out new training and research in response to the unease in order to tackle \u2018racist terminology\u2019 and \u2018aggressions\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Even those who utter <em>anything<\/em> will be purged from curricula with authors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spiked-online.com\/2021\/01\/21\/can-chaucer-survive-the-woke-purge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unpersoned<\/a> in the classroom.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cManagers at Leicester University have called for classic texts, including The Canterbury Tales and Beowulf, to be dropped from English courses in favour of a \u2018decolonised curriculum\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIf these proposals are implemented, all literary works written before 1500 would be ditched. All English language courses would end and \u2018a selection of modules on race, ethnicity, sexuality and diversity\u2019 would be brought in.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAccording to the Telegraph, university management said the move was intended to \u2018provide modules which students expect of an English degree\u2019. And president and vice-chancellor Professor Nishan Canagarajah said the plans were necessary for the university to \u2018compete on a global level\u2019.
