{"id":17697,"date":"2021-03-03T03:47:01","date_gmt":"2021-03-03T10:47:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/politicalhat.com\/?p=17697"},"modified":"2021-03-03T03:47:01","modified_gmt":"2021-03-03T10:47:01","slug":"so-long-as-the-gap-is-smaller","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/2021\/03\/03\/so-long-as-the-gap-is-smaller\/","title":{"rendered":"So Long As The Gap Is Smaller\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Just as much of the ideology of the Left is just a cultural version of old school Marxist thought, the critic that Margaret Thatcher made about how, economically, the Left believed that they\u2019d rather the poor be poorer just as long as the rich were even less rich such that the gap were smaller.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/okHGCz6xxiw\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Case in point: Advanced learning classes for 4<sup>th<\/sup> through 6<sup>th<\/sup> grade in Boston Public schools is being abolished in the name of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wgbh.org\/news\/education\/2021\/02\/26\/citing-racial-inequities-boston-public-schools-suspend-advanced-learning-classes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">equity<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cA selective program for high-performing fourth, fifth and sixth graders in Boston has suspended enrollment due to the pandemic and concerns about equity in the program, GBH News has learned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cSuperintendent Brenda Cassellius recommended the one-year hiatus for the program, known as Advanced Work Classes, saying the district would not proceed with the program for new students next year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2018There&#8217;s been a lot of inequities that have been brought to the light in the pandemic that we have to address,\u2019 Cassellius told GBH News. \u2018There&#8217;s a lot of work we have to do in the district to be antiracist and have policies where all of our students have a fair shot at an equitable and excellent education.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cA district analysis of the program found that more than 70 percent of students enrolled in the program were white and Asian, even though nearly 80 percent of all Boston public school students are Hispanic and Black.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cSchool Committee member Lorna Rivera said at a January meeting that she was disturbed by the findings, noting that nearly 60 percent of fourth graders in the program at the Ohrenberger school in West Roxbury are white even though most third graders enrolled at the school are Black and Hispanic.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2018This is just not acceptable,\u2019 Rivera said at a recent school committee meeting. \u2018I&#8217;ve never heard these statistics before, and I&#8217;m very very disturbed by them.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Perhaps even more disturbing than telling White and Asian students that they will be punished and denies academic opportunities because they are the wrong race and too many people of the wrong race are in the program, is the fact that they will be punishing the exact demographic.
