     Back when homosexuality was illegal and considered a mental illness, advocates of legalization argued that it was merely a \u201clifestyle choice\u201d and a \u201cpreference\u201d, rather than something that they could not control.\u00a0\u00a0 After it was accepted as legal, and even a right, it became an \u201corientation\u201d that was inherent and that people couldn\u2019t control their sexual attraction. Even then, however, \u201csexual preference\u201d and \u201csexual orientation\u201d was generally used to be interchangeable and basically denoted one\u2019s sexual attraction.<\/p>\n

     Even as recently as this year, Logo<\/a> TV<\/a> (a LGBTQ&c.<\/a> focused<\/a> channel<\/a>), The Advocate<\/a> (a LGBTQ&c.<\/a> magazine<\/a>), and Slate<\/a> all used the term \u201csexual preference\u201d or similar language declaring the impermanence of this \u201corientation\u201d.<\/p>\n

     Yet all it took was an expression of lack of prejudice or hatred against LGBTQ&c. by Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett to literally<\/em> rewrite the dictionary to make it doubleplusungood and her statement an expression of throughtcrime<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Today Mazie Hirono said the term "sexual preference" is offensive. @SteveKrak<\/a> showed as of September 28 Merriam-Webster didn't say it was offensive, but today it does say that.
So I checked when the entry was last changed according to merriam webster and *THEY CHANGED IT TODAY* pic.twitter.com\/sb9gK69M0R<\/a><\/p>\n
