A <a href=\"https:\/\/threadreaderapp.com\/thread\/1283744413034913797.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recent thread<\/a> by a John Hayward (@Doc_0) is worth <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/wguLy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reading in it\u2019s entirety<\/a>, but a few highlights are worth mentioning especially.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" align=\"center\" >\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\" align=\"center\" >They think &quot;justice&quot; is found only by turning the powerless victims into powerful oppressors. The righteousness they accumulated as victims, plus the wise guidance of academic elites, will help them use the tools of oppression to correct past injustices and build a better future.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; John Hayward (@Doc_0) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Doc_0\/status\/1283746629909184518?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 16, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script> <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16805\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/queen-of-hearts-and-alice.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"241\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more-->&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;This is the irony of the obsession over \u201csystems of oppression\u201d and \u201cinstitutional privilege and power\u201d: When one gains power over the oppressor, the oppressor stays the oppressor and must be presumed to still have \u201cinstitutional\u201d designation in order to justify their punishment, with the corollary that those who now have actual power must still be the downtrodden oppressed even if they not only have real power, but engage in \u201cjustice\u201d that is as bad as, or as worse, than what the perpetually designated oppressor did, or is accused of being.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" align=\"center\" >\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\" align=\"center\" >It doesn&#39;t matter if you&#39;re a Klansman or a high-toned academic pushing elaborate theories of &quot;inherent racism&quot; and &quot;white privilege.&quot; You&#39;re doing EXACTLY THE SAME THING. You&#39;ve only changed which people are presumed guilty based on the color of their skins.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; John Hayward (@Doc_0) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Doc_0\/status\/1283749217429839872?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 16, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script> <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The result of this is to push more people into this manichean \u201cus <em>vs<\/em>. them\u201d paradigm since if you are going to be called a \u201cracist\u201d anyway and punished for it, then you have a better chance if you ally yourself with others called \u201cracist\u201d, even if those others <em>are<\/em> racist. But then, perhaps that\u2019s the point.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" align=\"center\" >\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\" align=\"center\" >The presumption of innocence is a check on power. Presumed guilt is a bottomless fountain of sinister power. It is arguably the root of all oppression, especially in societies where people get to vote.
