     It has been noted that \u201ccancel culture<\/a>\u201d (or as George Orwell might put it, \u201cunpersoning\u201d) is arbitrary and capricious since there are no generally understood rules of what is or is not acceptable, which is especially pernicious when not only is ex post facto<\/em> punishment not<\/em> barred but actively encouraged, particularly when it is at the discretion of whoever wields actual<\/em> institutional privilege and actual<\/em> institutional power.<\/p>\n

     But then, that\u2019s the entire point <\/em>of \u201ccancel culture\u201d: The imposition of real<\/em> institutional power from those with real<\/em> institutional privilege. \u00a0 As noted previously, when the evil of racism (or sexism, or cis-heteronormativity, or whatever) is declared axiomatically to be \u201csystemic\u201d or \u201cinstitutional\u201d, than anything and everything is racist (or sexist or whatever), such that those who are deemed to be oppressors (or those without such \u201ckyriarchical\u201d traits who dare to dissent) can be silenced at any time<\/a>.<\/p>\n

     Not even expressing sentiments considered \u201cwoke\u201d and even mandated for acceptable society at the time can protect one from future punishment when ideology shifts or it just becomes convenient. During the Cultural Revolution in China, many of those most harshly targeted had been supporters of the Communist Revolution under Mao suddenly found themselves the targets of being enemies of the Revolution because those in actual power had the evidence in old pro-Communist statements and propaganda to target them via<\/em> the \u201cStruggle Sessions\u201d and the zealous Red Guards, who believed that the now-enemies-of-the-people were insufficiently pro-Revolution enough.<\/p>\n

     And again, that\u2019s the point<\/em>!<\/p>\n

     Cancel culture has the effect of encouraging people to \u201cself-cancel\u201d and stay silent\u2014never even questioning the \u201cjustice\u201d of the proffered wokeness de jure<\/em>\u2014and take themselves out of the culture in permanent surrender.\u00a0\u00a0 This has the result of furthering the Leftist idea of \u201cequity<\/a>\u201d wherein institutional discrimination an inequality (of both<\/em> opportunity and<\/em> outcome) is perpetually justified by punishing those who benefit by, or otherwise defend, the \u201csystemic\u201d racism (or sexism or whatever) which will always eternally pervades society like some maligning mystical miasma of malevolent malfeasance.<\/p>\n

     Revolution must <\/em>be perpectual, dontchaknow, in order to justify itself.<\/p>\n
