The shooting looks to me as if it should have been entirely preventable, as I&#8217;ll discuss below, but the official response to it has also been troubling, though for different reasons. Not even a day later, the officer who shot Brooks had been fired and the Police Chief had resigned. Saturday night, rioters burned the Wendy&#8217;s restaurant to the ground. And then, not even two full days later, authorities ruled the shooting to be a homicide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pjmedia.com\/culture\/tyler-o-neil\/2020\/06\/14\/huffpo-wants-to-cancel-black-celebs-who-speak-out-against-riots-and-destruction-n527383\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Huffpo Wants to &#8216;Cancel&#8217; Black Celebs Who Speak Out Against Riots and Destruction<\/a><br \/>\nCancel Culture has ratcheted into high gear in the wake of the George Floyd riots, with a soccer player getting fired for his wife\u2019s tweet, a church losing its lease over a pastor &#8220;liking&#8221; supposedly insensitive tweets, and New York Times op-ed editor James Bennet stepping down amid outrage that he published an op-ed by a U.S. senator. Over the weekend his family released a statement saying, &#8220;Shay is on a ventilator and will remains so.
