{"id":16358,"date":"2020-02-25T04:05:24","date_gmt":"2020-02-25T11:05:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/politicalhat.com\/?p=16358"},"modified":"2020-02-25T04:05:24","modified_gmt":"2020-02-25T11:05:24","slug":"reproductive-freedom-vs-reproductive-justice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/2020\/02\/25\/reproductive-freedom-vs-reproductive-justice\/","title":{"rendered":"Reproductive Freedom vs. Reproductive Justice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;While opponents of abortion consider it to be legalized <em>in utero<\/em> homicide, a collapse of morals, and\/or a tool of eugenics, its supports use such gushingly positive terminology as protecting \u201cbodily autonomy\u201d, being about \u201cwomen\u2019s rights\u201d, or quite often as \u201creproductive justice\u201d or \u201creproductive freedom\u201d. But those last two terms, \u201creproductive justice\u201d or \u201creproductive freedom\u201d, are not only <em>not<\/em> synonymous, but are often at odds with each others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;For example, contraception is considered a right because it allows a woman to engage in reproductive acts without (usually) reproducing, thus having \u201cfreedom\u201d regarding whether or not the reproductive act is fruitful or not. By some more stretched definition of \u201creproductive freedom\u201d, abortion allows a woman to choose to not have a child (including in some cases where the child is already <em>ex utero<\/em>) despite the actual reproduction having become a <em>fait accompli<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;However, \u201creproductive justice\u201d could necessitate that actual freedom over reproduction be curtailed to the point of forced sterilization. Case in point, a bill introduced in Alabama to mandate that men over fifty, or who already have three children, be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsfa.com\/2020\/02\/14\/alabama-bill-would-force-men-get-vasectomy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">forcibly sterilized<\/a> <em>via<\/em> vasectomy\u2026 and that the man will be forced to pay for it.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHB 238, filed by Rep. Rolanda Hollis, D-Birmingham, would require a man to undergo a vasectomy after the birth of his third biological child or within one month of his 50th birthday. The bill also says the procedure would be done at the man\u2019s own expense.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2018Under existing law, there are no restrictions on the reproductive rights of men,\u2019 according to the text of the bill.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHollis said many opponents have seen her bill as \u2018an outrageous overstep,\u2019 but she counters \u2018year after year the majority party continues to introduce new legislation that tries to dictate a woman\u2019s body and her reproductive rights.\u2019 Hollis calls her bill a means \u2018to neutralize last year\u2019s abortion ban bill,\u2019 and to send a message that \u2018men should not be legislating what women do with their bodies.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><div id=\"attachment_16359\" style=\"width: 406px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16359\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/orange-juice-no-pulp.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"396\" height=\"361\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16359\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/orange-juice-no-pulp.jpg 396w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/orange-juice-no-pulp-300x273.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 396px) 100vw, 396px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-16359\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">All juice; no seeds.<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Aside from the obvious fact that males and females are biologically different, with reproductive organs being the primary and most important difference, this measure would outright eliminate actual reproductive freedom since it would robe one of the choice to reproduce, which is different from abortion, which terminated the successful reproductive act, or contraception, since we\u2014both men and women\u2014can choose to not engage in coitus (rape excepted, of course).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In reality, this is just an example of a trend from the Left to make easier, normalize, and if possible mandate things that they support while making harder, denormalize, and if possible ban things that they do not support.
