Its course description says the class \u2018stretch[es] the limits of gendering-and sexing-the divine.\u2019 Key themes of the class, also outlined in the course description, include gender, embodiment, masculinity, liberation, sexuality, and feminist and queer theory.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c\u2019Part of the student community definitely wants to have more representation and to have LGBTQ issues addressed in courses and elsewhere on campus,\u2019 a Swarthmore student, who asked to remain anonymous, told Campus Reform. \u2018This means spreading awareness and getting people to action through taking courses like this.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cNatalie, another Swarthmore student who asked for her last name not to be published, noted that the school demonstrates \u2018normalized progressivism, unfazed by even the most controversial topics.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more-->&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;It turns out that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecollegefix.com\/gender-equity-center-says-being-straight-doesnt-just-mean-being-attracted-to-the-opposite-sex\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">straight people aren\u2019t actually attracted to the opposite sex<\/a>, but to a social gender construct different than their own, or something\u2026<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cGet educated, straight people: It turns out that heterosexuality isn\u2019t just a matter of being attracted to the opposite sex.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe Gender Equity Resource Center at the University of California, Berkeley, offers students a list of LGBTQ-related terminology, and several of them re-define what it means to be straight.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe guide defines \u2018straight\u2019 as a \u2018person who is attracted to a gender other than their own.\u2019 But the definition contains an important caveat: The term is \u2018commonly thought of as \u201cattraction to the opposite gender,\u201d but since there are not only two genders\u2026this definition is inaccurate.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAs if to drive the point home, the guide also defines \u2018heterosexuality\u2019 as \u2018sexual, emotional, and\/or romantic attraction to a gender other than your own.\u2019 That description repeats the caveat from the first definition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt is unclear how exactly the guide is using the term \u2018gender.\u2019 Elsewhere it defines \u2018gender\u2019 as \u2018a socially constructed system of classification that ascribes qualities of masculinity and femininity to people,\u2019 implying that gender itself does not actually exist apart from social conventions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe guide does define \u2018gender identity\u2019 as \u2018an individual\u2019s internal sense of their own gender,\u2019 but since that definition simply refers to the term \u2018gender,\u2019 both terms are ultimately unclear.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;You know you are woke when Gay men are just\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecollegefix.com\/universitys-lgbt-programming-celebrates-half-a-dozen-queer-identities-gay-men-are-not-one-of-them\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">not Queer enough<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cA public university is hosting programming for LGBTQIA+ History Month in an effort to educate students about different spectrums of sexuality, with the school offering program on half a dozen queer identities. Conspicuously absent among them: Gay men.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe University of Alabama marks October as LGBTQIA+ History Month and as part of its monthlong programming is hosting talks for students about various types of LGBT \u2018identities and their histories,\u2019 according to the school\u2019s website.
