     The first of May, often referred to as “International Workers Day”, and better known as “May Day” (or alternatively, Victims of Communism Day), was proposed to be an official paid holiday in California schools, if AB 3042<\/a> passes:<\/p>\n

“SEC. 2. Section 37220.8 is added to the Education Code, to read:<\/p>\n

“37220.8. (a) Notwithstanding paragraphs (3) and (4) of subdivision (a) of Section 37220, a school district, county office of education, or charter school may combine ‘Lincoln Day,’ as described in paragraph (3) of subdivision (a) of Section 37220, and ‘Washington Day,’ as described in paragraph (4) of subdivision (a) of Section 37220, into a single school holiday, known as ‘Presidents\u2019 Day,’ and close its school, or schools, as applicable, on the third Monday in February to observe ‘Presidents\u2019 Day,’ if the school district, county office of education, or charter school also designates May 1 as \u201cInternational Workers\u2019 Day\u201d and closes its school, or schools, as applicable, on the Monday or Friday of the week in which May 1 occurs to observe ‘International Workers\u2019 Day.’<\/p>\n

“(b) Schools that observe ‘Presidents\u2019 Day’ pursuant to subdivision (a) shall, on the day that school is in session prior to the day on which they are closed for that purpose, hold exercises in memory of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.<\/p>\n

“(c) Schools that observe ‘International Workers\u2019 Day’ pursuant to subdivision (a) shall, on the day that school is in session prior to the day on which they are closed for that purpose, hold exercises commemorating and directing attention to the history of labor movements in the United States.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

     Not only would this make May Day an official holiday, but one where the students will be purposefully indoctrinated to normalize this Communist and Socialist celebration. As for the labor movement, we already celebrate Labor Day.<\/p>\n

     The bill failed<\/a> with 27 votes against verses 22 votes for. This may seem like good news, but 29 members of the Assembly didn’t vote. While some may just not have been available for the vote, it is likely that while they could not be seen as voting for it or considered the vote to be premature<\/em>, they also didn’t want to come out as being against<\/em> the idea, and are likely just biding their time.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

     Instead of propagandizing impressionable students with fables of violent socialists, Communists, and even anarchist “labor movements”, we should be telling the truth about Communism and all the millions upon millions upon millions of innocents murdered in its name.<\/p>\n

     Heck, make “The Gulag Archipelago” mandatory reading in order to graduate!<\/p>\n
