     …the results are as sad<\/a> as you’d think they’d be.<\/p>\n

“A devastated young transgender woman says s<\/span>he has been left ‘disfigured and feeling like a freak’ following two botched gender reassignment operations.<\/p>\n

“Kia, 26, from Wales, says s<\/span>he was forced to seek private treatment after the NHS procedures left her<\/span>im<\/strong> in near-constant pain and with her<\/span>im<\/strong> urethra permanently exposed, which s<\/span>he says means s<\/span>he is unable to have sex or urinate properly.<\/p>\n

“S<\/span>he says doctors also failed to inform her s<\/span>he had effectively been ‘castrated’ by the operations – as the procedures have left her<\/span>im<\/strong> with limited sensation.<\/p>\n

“The 26-year-old, who is suffering from anxiety, says s<\/span>he is still a virgin, has never had a boyfriend, and is desperate to lead a ‘normal life’.<\/p>\n

“‘I feel like a freak. I feel like I have been disfigured,'”*<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

     Aside from the subtext which suggests that this individual didn’t actually grok what was happening to his self, this is also a clear idea of how socialized healthcare is a disaster and harms patients.<\/p>\n

     What makes this even more sad is that this surgery was not medically necessary.<\/p>\n

“Immediately after the first surgery, Kia claims s<\/span>he went back to the hospital with her<\/span>is <\/strong>complaints but was told s<\/span>he would have to wait nine months for a revision because her<\/span>is<\/strong> original surgeon was on maternity leave.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

     Um, at this point it might have been a good idea to be thankful that the quack that mutilated him was unavailable and get a decent reconstructive surgeon.<\/p>\n

     Of course, a redo didn’t work out either…<\/p>\n

“Kia says s<\/span>he was forced to wait – but that when s<\/span>he eventually got a revision on June 14 this year, nothing changed.<\/p>\n

“S<\/span>he added: ‘I had two weeks off work – and after that time I realised that nothing was different. It was exactly the same.’<\/p>\n

“The night after her<\/span>is<\/strong> revision by her<\/span>is<\/strong> original surgeon in June, her<\/span>is<\/strong> stitches burst in the night and then again shortly afterwards on the train home.<\/p>\n

“‘I can’t have sex. It just cannot accommodate anything. During arousal it just completely swells and blocks the entrance – the opposite of what it’s supposed to do.<\/p>\n

“‘My urethra is just completely exposed. There is nothing covering it so it’s constantly painful and sore.<\/p>\n

“‘I explained all of this to the surgeon. But nothing had been changed.'”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

     Whether this victim follows others<\/a> down a more terminal<\/em> path, remains to be seen.<\/p>\n
