California is poised to mandate that health facilities use a patients preferred gender pronouns… or go to jail for up to a year.<\/p>\n
SB 219<\/a>, in part, reads:<\/p>\n “1439.51. (a) Except as provided in subdivision (b), it shall be unlawful for a long-term care facility or facility staff to take any of the following actions wholly or partially on the basis of a person\u2019s actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) status:<\/p>\n “\u2026<\/p>\n “(3) Where rooms are assigned by gender, assigning, reassigning, or refusing to assign a room to a transgender resident other than in accordance with the transgender resident\u2019s gender identity, unless at the transgender resident\u2019s request.<\/p>\n “\u2026<\/p>\n “(5) Willfully and repeatedly fail to use a resident\u2019s preferred name or pronouns after being clearly informed of the preferred name or pronouns.<\/p>\n “(6) Deny a resident the right to wear or be dressed in clothing, accessories, or cosmetics that are permitted for any other resident.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n And the punishment?<\/p>\n “1569.40. (a) Any person who violates this chapter, or who willfully or repeatedly violates any rule or regulation adopted under this chapter, is guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000), by imprisonment in the county jail for a period not to exceed one year, or by both the fine and imprisonment.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n This isn’t just fining people, or denying them a license or right to work at\/operate such health facilities; this is compulsion intended to change private thoughts by conditioned verbal responses. This is not just compelled speech, but outright criminalizing any utterance that doesn’t conform with the new mandatory thinking of transgenderism. It even forces people to be housed with others of the opposite sex, no matter how uncomfortable that may make them feel.<\/p>\n Oh, of course one could just not work at a health facility, but hat just means anyone with morals will be purged from the medical field, resulting any remaining anemic attempts by sane and rational medical staff to oppose this insanity being forever squashed leaving only but a unanimity of absurdity.<\/p>\n Do not think, either, that this will not be extended in time to other businesses and non-profits, or to anything under the government’s aegis, such as schools.
