{"id":1357,"date":"2013-02-05T18:32:26","date_gmt":"2013-02-06T02:32:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/politicalhat.com\/?p=1357"},"modified":"2013-02-05T18:32:26","modified_gmt":"2013-02-06T02:32:26","slug":"the-new-feudalism-heard-through-the-grapevine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/2013\/02\/05\/the-new-feudalism-heard-through-the-grapevine\/","title":{"rendered":"The New Feudalism, Heard Through the Grapevine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Raisin farmers are facing a <a href=\"http:\/\/hotair.com\/archives\/2013\/01\/30\/raisin-farmers-in-scotus-case-face-650k-charge-if-they-dont-give-half-their-crop-to-the-feds\/\" target=\"_blank\">$650,000 penalty<\/a> unless they <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/2012\/11\/20\/us-usa-court-takings-raisins-idUSBRE8AJ1HA20121120\" target=\"_blank\">hand over<\/a> almost half of their crop of raisin to their Lord Seigneurs the Federal Government.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The court agreed to address the constitutionality of a &#8220;reserve tonnage&#8221; program overseen by the U.S. Department of Agriculture under a law dating from 1937, near the end of the Great Depression.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Aside from the wisdom of defending a program that originated from the paragon of regulatory sanity [\/sarcasm].\u00a0 The main problem, is that this is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcclatchydc.com\/2012\/11\/19\/175089\/grapes-and-raisins-of-wrath-supreme.html#storylink=cpy\" target=\"_blank\">violation<\/a> of the 5<sup>th<\/sup> Amendment which requires &#8220;just compensation&#8221; for takings:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The federal government, without providing the just compensation required by the Fifth Amendment, extracts title to a hefty portion of a farmer\u2019s annual raisin crop as a condition for giving the farmer permission to sell the remainder of his crop on the market,\u201d attorney Michael W.
