{"id":12240,"date":"2016-08-11T00:10:03","date_gmt":"2016-08-11T07:10:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/politicalhat.com\/?p=12240"},"modified":"2016-08-11T00:10:03","modified_gmt":"2016-08-11T07:10:03","slug":"quick-takes-miseducating-civics-miseducating-economics-miseducating-women","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/2016\/08\/11\/quick-takes-miseducating-civics-miseducating-economics-miseducating-women\/","title":{"rendered":"Quick Takes &#8211; Miseducating Civics; Miseducating Economics; Miseducating Women"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Another &#8220;quick takes&#8221; on items where there is too little to say to make a complete article, but is still important enough to comment on.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The focus this time: Me not know education?\u00a0 That&#8217;s unpossible!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;First, a little mood music:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-i6xO2K9AE0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Carrying on\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5372\" title=\"Eagle with Flag\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/EaglewithFlag.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"203\" height=\"176\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The Advanced Placement test is used by colleges to help asses the knowledge of students, and to even give them college credit for a high enough score.\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.powerlineblog.com\/archives\/2016\/06\/college-board-mandates-left-wing-narrative-for-ap-european-history.php\" target=\"_blank\">knowledge<\/a> that is being tested, however, tends towards how knowledgeable the students are in <em>Progressive Propaganda<\/em>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The invaluable National Association of Scholars is publishing a 12,000-word critique of the new AP European History (APEH) exam.\u00a0 The report, written by David Randall, is titled The Disappearing Continent.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Here are Dr. Randall\u2019s\u00a0 key findings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;1) APEH presents the history of government rather than of liberty.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;2) APEH presents religion throughout as an instrument of power rather than as an autonomous sphere of European history.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;3) APEH treats the movement to abolish slavery without mentioning how it was inspired by religious faith, led by saints such as William Wilberforce, and hymned to Amazing Grace.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;4) APEH underplays British history throughout, thus minimizing the importance of Britain\u2019s distinctive history in the European tradition as the champion of liberty.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;5) APEH minimizes and extenuates the evils of Communism, the brutal destructiveness of Soviet rule, and the aggressiveness of Soviet foreign policy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;6) APEH virtually ignores Europe\u2019s unique development of the architecture of modern knowledge, which made possible almost every modern form of intellectual inquiry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">&#8220;7) APEH doesn\u2019t argue that European history is important or interesting in itself. APEH never gives a reason why students should study Europe\u2019s history in particular.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Of course, it doesn&#8217;t get better at the college level<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" title=\"Eagle Divider\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more-->&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Indeed, many college Professors state <a href=\"http:\/\/www.campusreform.org\/?ID=7611\" target=\"_blank\">false premises<\/a> as if they were fact:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;A test, administered on April 29 in Professor John Traxler\u2019s [of the Milwaukee Schoo of Engineering] Healthcare Economics class, told students that &#8216;[o]ne of the main functions of government is income redistribution,&#8217; then asked them to explain what the statement meant. The correct answer was C: &#8216;Taxing the wealthy and giving it to those in poverty.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;But that&#8217;s just one test, right?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" title=\"Eagle Divider\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The private women&#8217;s liberal arts college Barnard College has rolled out a new curriculum to teach their female students how they are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecollegefix.com\/post\/27956\/\" target=\"_blank\">supposed to think<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The new curriculum at the New York City-based Barnard College, called &#8216;Foundations,&#8217; aims to reteach its students &#8216;how to think&#8217; by having them take courses within six new so-called &#8216;modes of thinking,&#8217; according to a video touting the framework.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;For example, the video describes how students will be taught to how to &#8216;think&#8217; through &#8216;global inquiry&#8217; while depicting phrases such as &#8216;Privilege,&#8217; &#8216;Identity&#8217; and &#8216;Money&#8217; to &#8216;see the 6 degrees of separation between you and someone who lives in South Africa.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Students will also have to take a class within the &#8216;Social Difference&#8217; modality, in which students will examine &#8216;the disparities of power and resources in all their manifestations,&#8217; the college\u2019s website states.
