     Funny how “socialist revolutions” always end up with the poor being poorer… and their own version of the Nomenklatura enjoying the high life<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Venezuela’s super-rich are enjoying lavish parties and gourmet cuisine, while middle-class people are forced to scavenge for food as the Socialist country’s economy collapses.<\/p>\n

“In the opulent Caracas Country Club, where membership costs an astonishing \u00a377,000 \u2013 458 times the average Venezuelan salary \u2013 glamorous women in cocktail dresses were seen relishing a banquet of beef and lobster, followed by a colourful selection of puddings.<\/p>\n

“Meanwhile, in the Petare slum a few miles away, home to 370,000 Venezuelans, ordinary middle-class people were rummaging in stinking piles of rubbish for rotten cabbage leaves, desiccated limes and scraps of fetid meat.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

     Leading a perpetual revolution is a tad bit difficult when you promise to enrich the poor and bring economic equality, while the reality of impoverishment caused by socialism is so starkly contrasted with spoiled elitists.<\/p>\n

     Venezuela has even had its own “let them eat cake” moment, with one rich elistist going so far as to say”<\/p>\n

“It’s not that we don’t care about the poor people. We give a lot to charity, [\u2026] Should we stop enjoying ourselves just because the country is burning?”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
