the beneficent government will be able to provide plenty of everything to everyone because &#8220;consensus&#8221; and &#8220;democracy&#8221; or something&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;This, of course, is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/428755\/healthcare-rationing-based-age\" target=\"_blank\">nonsense<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Once technocrats seize power over a sector, its political nature is to determine winners and losers, favored and disfavored, in-crowds and out-crowds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;That means rationing based on invidious determinations about whose lives matter more and whose less.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;However, rationing is <a href=\"http:\/\/ajh.sagepub.com\/content\/32\/7\/703.abstract\" target=\"_blank\">all the rage<\/a> in the <em>peer reviewed medical journals<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p  style=\" margin: 12px auto 6px auto; font-family: Helvetica,Arial,Sans-serif; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal; -x-system-font: none; will be made for you&#8230; and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/428755\/healthcare-rationing-based-age\" target=\"_blank\">against your will<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The answer is to bar the door to some of the elderly, those in which wanted life-sustaining treatment &#8216;prolong the patient\u2019s death,&#8217; a very slippery concept that turns what is actually happening\u2013keeping the patient alive longer\u2013on its head.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" title=\"Eagle Divider\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more-->&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Well, that&#8217;s just when we take it to the extreme, correct?\u00a0 It&#8217;s no big deal if it&#8217;s &#8220;just the tip&#8221;&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2015\/12\/30\/how-tocqueville-schooled-bernie-sanders-200-years-ago\/\" target=\"_blank\">or not<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Seeking to root his democratic socialism in American experiences, Sanders essentially proposed a return to Franklin Roosevelt\u2019s New Deal and Lyndon Johnson\u2019s Great Society and extending the economically activist government agendas associated with these endeavors. Freedom, Sanders maintained, requires government-provided economic security.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;\u2026 But it&#8217;s precisely such &#8216;moderate&#8217; versions of socialism that were the primary object of Tocqueville\u2019s worries.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;As with a &#8220;right to a job&#8221;, a &#8220;right to healthcare&#8221; does not exist in any meaningful way just because it is declared to be so:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Tocqueville, however, took a sharply contrasting position. If a right to work was written into France\u2019s constitution, he argued, it would open the door to the state assuming an unprecedented degree of control over economic life. Why? Because to fulfill such a constitutional duty, Tocqueville claimed, the state would either have to force businesses to hire people or create as many government jobs as it took to eliminate unemployment. Either way, it would shatter economic freedom or fiscal rectitude.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;And, indeed, reality <em>always<\/em> rears its head.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5371\" title=\"Eagle Divider\" src=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"37\" srcset=\"https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line.gif 500w, https:\/\/impeachreno.org\/politicalhat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/eag_line-300x22.gif 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Sometimes, when reality slaps you upside the face enough, you begin entertaining <a href=\"http:\/\/insureblog.blogspot.com\/2016\/04\/privatizing-canuckcare.html\" target=\"_blank\">alternatives<\/a> more <a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2016\/04\/26\/this-canadian-province-just-introduced-private-markets-to-health-care-and-made-it-better\/\" target=\"_blank\">amicable to reality<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Wait times for elective surgeries in Canada are notoriously long, but a study released Tuesday found times dropped significantly in the Saskatchewan province after private, for-profit clinics were introduced to the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The companies chosen for the private clinics were required to sign contracts with the health regions providing specifics on the number of procedures performed, the costs and time frame.
